Her mothers name was Elizabeth Rose Santin and her dad was Joseph Fischer (both born in Austria Hungary). I don't have dates of birth for them or marriage date. Wilber Nebraska is the county seat of Saline County. They would have wills or estate papers at the Probate Court. Birth records were not kept until 1910 and deaths sporadically in 1904. Obituaries were in the Dorchester Star newspaper, and copies can be obtained from the Nebraska State Historical Socieity at 15th & R in Lincoln Nebraska. I believe the cost is $5.00 for the Historical Society and Wilbur charges 50 cents for marriages and $5.00 for wills and estates. These places are fantastic and of great help. donna
Greetings from Virginia! I've just subscribed to the list and am looking for information on a relative who has been very elusive. I would appreciate any help on this family or advise on sources. Are there death certificates or probate records available for 1893 in Saline Co.? Are there any newspaper obituaries available for this time period? Looking for family of Waldren Drew and his daughter Rachael Coates Brown. Waldron Drew, according to Dorchester Cemetery records online, was born 25 Jan 1819 and died 14 August 1893. He was born in Miami Co., Ohio, eldest child of Abraham W. Drew and Mary Voorhis. His father, Abraham Drew died in 1822 in Miami Co., OH and the family moved to Warren Co., Ohio.. He had two sisters, Margaret Drew (wife of John Clendenin) and Martha Drew (wife of Robert Batcheler). >From the 1850 Clinton Co., IN census, I found that Rachael was born about 1841. By 1860 the family was in Wisconsin and lastly, I found them in Saline Co., NE. I don't know the name of Rachael's husband. Other children of Waldron Drew are Jacob, Mary, Sarah, John and William Henry. Waldron Drew married at least 2 times. First to Sarah Statler 11 May 1840 in Clinton Co., IN and second to Mazy Ann Blake from Dorchester, Saline Co., NE. Sarah Statler Drew died in Wisconsin on 1 May 1855. Would love to find any descendents. Best regards to all, Mary Louise Townsend Potomac Falls, VA

I know that they we're married in 1873, but I am unsure of the exact date or location. I also found a reference to my G, G Grandfather on the 1890 business and famer directory for Pleasent Hill. One of their son's my Great Grandfather Othello was born in FRIEND, SALINE COUNTY on April 20th 1882 and I assume that his siblings we're also born at or around the same location. I found a record for my Great Grandfather Othello's marriage in Johnson County in April of 1905 to Watie Mae ADKINS and I know that all or most of the family immigrated to Cheyenne County Kansas shortly after. I am primarily searching for marriage dates and locations and also birth information if available. Any and all information would be greatly appriciated. Thank You Kathleen Tally (Tello)

Posted on: Saline Co. Ne Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ne/SalineObits/10029 Surname: RUPERT, ONESS, SMITH, MILLER ------------------------- >From February, 1924 Saline County newspapers: DEATH OF MRS. E. RUPERT PIONEER OF SALINE COUNTY Succumbed to Long Siege of Ill Health on February 5 Mrs. Ephraim RUPERT passed away Tuesday morning, February 5, after an illness extending over a number of years. Her condition took a serious turn last week and it was feared that she could not long survive and members of her family were sent for. She suffered intensely until death came to her relief. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church Thursday afternoon of this week, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. W. Wagner. Obituary Rosa Ann ONESS was born in Como, Whiteside county, Ill., Febr. 28, 1867 and passed peacefully away at her home in Western, Nebr., on Febr. 5, 1924, at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 7 days. In 1875, when she was eight years old, she came to Nebraska with her parents, who located on a farm near Pleasant Hill in Saline county. Later her father moved his family to Beatrice, Nebr., where she was united in marriage to Ephraim RUPERT on April 10, 1882. To this union were born three sons, Daniel, Oliver and John Edgar, the latter passing away in infancy. Daniel and Oliver were at their mothers bedside when the final summons came. With the exception of three years residence in Decatur county, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. RUPERT lived in Saline county, two years being spent on a farm near DeWitt and twenty-one years on a farm near Swanton. In December, 1911, they moved to Western where they have since made their home. At the age of 15, under the ministry of the Rev. H. T. Davis, in Beatrice, Mrs. RUPERT was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. When she, with her husband located in Western, she transferred her membership to the First Methodist church of which she remained an honored member until the end. For more than five years Mrs. RUPERTs health did not permit her to attend any of the church services. She was confined to her home practically all of the time and it was a great sacrifice for her to have to give up all church associations and Christian fellowship with her friends. Much of the time she suffered greatly. Added to this she spent many lonely hours all alone at home because she was unable to walk any great distance. During her recent sickness her suffering was intense but she bore it all very patiently. A short time before the end came she expressed a desire to depart in order to be relieved of her misery. Mrs. RUPERT lived her religion. Her Christian life was beautiful and her character was made perfect through her suffering. She was kind conscientious and patient. Being resigned to the will of God she lived, she was ready to go when the summons came. Like Paul, for her to live was Christ, to die was gain. Mrs. RUPERT leaves to mourn, her beloved husband, Ephraim RUPERT, two sons, Daniel of Lodgepole, Nebr., and Oliver of Havelock. There remain also one brother, Jerry SMITH of Swanton, two sisters, Mrs. Henry NEVEL of Western and Mrs. W. A. MILLER of Beatrice, four grandchildren, many more distant relatives and many sorrowing neighbors and friends.
