    2. Shirley - your email made me laugh and remember - when i was growing up here in Oregon in the 50's an 60's - 10 miles from an Indian Reservation - my uncle from Omaha used to call my mom every month and fret about us living so close to danger - My mom used to love fueling his imagination by describing the "stockade" walls around our small town and how every man had to take their turn doing time in the stockade towers "looking out" for raiding parties etc - He also believed we still had old crank phones and had to go through an operator to make a local call - living in a small town with a small telephone co op - that was not all that far from the truth - but he always had questions about the "wild" western state we were living in and believed we all packed 6 irons on our hips - lol - dianne In a message dated 5/8/2011 5:15:03 P.M. When I started working in the office of a manufacturing plant here in Columbus in 1980, I would get into conversations with our main plant in New Jersey. They believed that we still had Indians walking around our streets and that it was still very dangerous because of this. Guess they thought we were all cowboys and Indians just like in the movies. Now, with the media, there shouldn't be any mistake what life is like in the other states but back even just 40 some years ago, the media was not that active....Shirley ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
