I too only have the birth years for Irena and Irene. Frank GALUS was my 2nd cousin 2x removed, son of Bartholomew GALUS and Anna Estora SLAWINSKI...both born in Leki Gorne, Galicia, Austrian Poland. They immigrated to the Duncan, Platte County, area. All my records from Leki Gorne and Platte County have GALUS, infrequently has a double L, and one distant group chose to go with GOLUS, but otherwise... There was a GALAS family in South O, members of the St. Francis Assisi Parish, as was I. We used to kid each other about spelling our last names wrong. To date I have not connected the GALAS with the GALUS, although in reviewing my records I find that the immigrant John GALAS (who married Victoria ZAUCHA in Douglas County, NE) did spell his name GALUS quite often.
