Cris - Sounds to me as if you can do with a Ladies night out, when, after an excess of libation, you can freely bring high P upon the gods of genealogy to your hearts content. Actually, your knowledge of William's service in the Spanish American War may serve you well because now you can request a copy of his service and pension records. I've done this for a Guncle ( hehe great uncle) and there's a goodly amount of personal information contained therein. At that time there was no charge. https://eservices.archives.gov/orderonline/start.swe?SWEFullRefresh=1&SWECmd=Login&_sn=-Q8XATwbtRWIFxhnZEJs7kdOtCKyBrlQ5.P0YX59qZ8_&SWECM=S&SWEHo=eservices.archives.gov&SWETS=1302713698 This will take you (hopefully) to the NARA where you can order online. You want both PENSION and SERVICE records. There are other ways to order them but this appears the easiest. In spite of the obits in the World Herald with quite alot, well enough, to prove Williams relationship to my mother in-law, his only child, and after finding out the funeral home doesn't have older records, the cemetery tells me they have no record of his burial there, either. It even says that the committal was taken care of by someone from the Vets. Monica found him on the 1948 city directory in Omaha.......he would have been 81.......doubt he would have gone somewhere else after that. > > Today, I found this online: > CHAP. 8883.-An Act Granting a pension to William C. His marr. cert. says he was born there and gives the parents names. They jive. But in the 1880 census in Ne, the family names jive except for Williams age. Not unusual. Would they give a pension to a 30 something? He and May were married in 1906. Then, he went on to work in the mines in Nevada for a short time. > > > > > ____________________________________________________________ > Get Free Email with Video Mail & Video Chat! > http://www.juno.com/freeemail?refcd=JUTAGOUT1FREM0210 > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
