    1. [NEPLATTE] Happy St. Patricks Day !

    3. Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona! I would be remiss if I did not wish me brothers and sisters of Irish descent, and those who are Irish in their hearts, a very happy St. Patricks Day !! This afternoon, I will take my 1 bottle of "Harp Lager", raise it up and say "Arna dhéanamh leat Good!" (You Done Good) - hoping that our genealogical ancestors 'have their ears on'. As I have to wear something green, in the morning the Tighty Whities come off, and for 1 day, the Tighty Greenies are donned - a present from me Irish Wife, and bought today. I may have screwed up when I told her of me "discussion" the other day on this list !! In the rear, there are two shamrocks, one on each side and on the front is a Leprechaun. I hope no one pinches me and asks -where is the green- but surely there aren't that many Irish rednecks around here (I don't think). ENGLISH May your glass never run dry !! May your women always be radiant ! May your men never lose their ruggedness! And may the Irish always retain that which makes them Irish! GAELIC Go raibh do ghloine ar siúl tirim riamh! Bealtaine do mhná a bheith i gcónaí radiant! chailleadh Bealtaine do fir riamh a n-cruatan! Agus is féidir an Ghaeilge a choinneáil i gcónaí go bhfuil a dhéanann na hÉireann iad! POLISH Niech szkła nie wyschną! Niech wasze kobiety zawsze promienna! Niech ludzie nie tracą odporność! A może w Irlandii zawsze zachowują, że co czyni je Researching google a little bit, I find that St. Patricks Day is a very big thing in Poland, and celebrated Nationwide. It would be a very successful day for the Irish genealogist to research Polish records Methinks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SgtSiGqUQk I was particularly taken with the 3 minute video at this URL. It was filmed in support of St. Patricks Day by the faculty of Blessed Pope John Paul II primary school in Jamielnik Poland. The singer is 12 year old Jolka Dajos, a pupil. I am reminded, in that no matter the language, the religious preference, the country, or the ethnicity, we are still just one people, all the same, who have simply chosen a different path through life. What wonderful things a song can do. Tom

    3. Tom, your wife must have a great sense of humor to buy these "Tightie Greenies" for you. What a sight to see but sure she doesn't expect you to be showing them off. :) I am on my way home from Texas today and forgot to bring the green with me. Hope I don't sit next to any Irishmen or women today. To all, have a great St. Patricks Day and may the wind on your backside not be from the cornbeef and cabbage you ate for lunch......Shirley

    3. Growing up, and not being Irish, my brothers and sisters decided that we would wear red on St. Patrick's day in honor of our Polish heritage and St. Joseph, who was the Polish patron saint and who's day is a couple days later on March 19th. Of course us girls had a little green in the school uniform, but we made sure we had red sweaters, and red socks. Of course we would wear red again a couple days later, but then, we lived in Nebraska, and had lots of red! To this day, I have to admit, I still tend to wear red than green on this day! LOL... we thought we were such a rebellious group! > From: [email protected] > Date: Thu, 17 Mar 2011 01:58:26 -0500 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [NEPLATTE] Happy St. Patricks Day ! > > Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona! > > I would be remiss if I did not wish me brothers and sisters of Irish descent, and those who are Irish in their hearts, a very happy St. Patricks Day !! > > This afternoon, I will take my 1 bottle of "Harp Lager", raise it up and say "Arna dhéanamh leat Good!"
