    2. Thanks to Tom for bringing that link back, and to Valene for bringing up the subject of Smogulec. On days of boredom, I love to find out new genealogy info. This is not to do with Columbus or Platte Co. but it is connected by the idea that the railroads certainly were responsible for bringing lots of Eastern Europeans to the U.S. We know that is true of Platte Co, and here is an article about the same thing happening in Texas. And it mentions the village of Smogulec. How the Rosnos and others decided to go to Platte Co. instead of Texas might be the same reason tho.     3. Hi Kathy, Thanks for the link. Interesting information! John and Josephine Rosno moved to Texas in 1876, although I don't know exactly where. It wouldn't surprise me if they came to the same place. They eventually came back to Nebraska. John's brother, Joseph, married Anna Spies in Kycina, which is only about six miles from Smogulec. They had their first child there shortly before they came to Duncan.
