Suzy - I need some small help. I live in Alabama and my cousin Ron lives in Dallas Fort Worth. Neither one of us get's back to Nebraska very often so we can't research the Civil records in the Columbus. Ron usually goes back every year around Christmas time for a few days and it's been a few years for me. One of the first Polish settlers there in the Columbus area was an ANTON MIKOLAJCZAK who was married, in Poland, to CATHARINA LASEK who was my Great Aunt, sister to my Great Grandfather WALENTY LASEK who married ROSALIA MROZINSKI in Poland. Catharina died and a few weeks later, Anton "came a courtin" to a WILHELLMA FRANKE. One of Anton's sons didn't like this arrangement for reasons unknown to me, and he decided to make an issue of it. Anton's son, somehow, got the State of Nebraska involved in getting Wilhelmina to court through the legal system. About 8 years ago, cousin Ron worked through the records clerk in Platte County and he looked into Index Book "A" for a record of this event. It was listed as File # 621 "Nikoicheck, Wilhelmina vs State of Nebraska" and the Appearance Docket was # B34. At that time, the clerk couldn't find the file, why I don't know. I'm thinking that after 8 years it may have "drifted" back to where it was filed. If, for some reason it has not returned to it's rightful place, can you give me an opinion as to where I may get a copy ?? Shoudn't the State of Nebraska have a copy, or the original ?? Tom Lassek
List - I need to both add and correct here. 1. The date of the legal action was in 1881 and I think, the month of May. 2. Wilhelmina FRANKE was the name used initially. FRANKE may not have been her maiden name. 3. Shortly after the death of Catharina LASEK, Anton Mikolajczak married Wilhelmina FRANKE through the Justice of the Peace, so, at the time of the legal filing, her legal name was Wilhelmina Mikolajczak, and the surname was misspelled as NIKOLCHECK and the legal action was "Nikolcheck, Wilhelmina vs State of Nebraska". Sorry for the confusion - hopefully I have it correct now. Tomasz > > Suzy - > > I need some small help. I live in Alabama and my cousin Ron lives in Dallas Fort Worth.
