    1. Re: [NEPLATTE] Strawberry Fields
    2. Shirley - Yes you sent me the school records and I will have to say - they were a big hit at the family reunion this year - I always try to take something extra along to the reunions and this year it was the school records and old photos I had scored from second and third cousins - a picture of my grandpa and his siblings when he was 5 was also a big hit - I am looking forward to the Platte County visit and visiting the museum and meeting some of the kinseekers etc - I know the old family farm is no longer standing but would love to find the location and see what it looks like now as well as the house my aunt always talks about in Columbus - I am piling up a list of things to take with me - (thanks Tom about the suggestion of a recorder) and I am also thinking it would be wise to take along a brief family history of the various families and their locations at various times due to the number of families I want to look for information on - My NE families include: Derby, Prohaska, Cougil, Bailey, Harper, Edwards, Bricker, and Ashpaugh and my IA families include: Derby, Bailey, Prohaska, Stewart, Edinger and Lawrence. And even though she is not on this list - want to tell you how wonderful a lady named Carol who works at the Knight Library in York NE has been. not only has she sent me a ton of articles on my Prohaska family that answered a lot of questions - she has just been very patient with my constant requests for information. Am hoping I can locate a platt map and someone will be able to help me locate the actual address of the family farm - 5 miles East of Charleston is not much to go on for an address - but do want to go out and see if the farmhouse my great grandfather built is still standing - I have a couple of pictures of it - If it is - I may even go knock on the door and explain who I am and ask if I can walk around and take pictures - but am especially interested in say Hi to you Shirley - you have been great about sending me the school records and stuff and plan on taking you to lunch when i arrive in Platte County - Dianne In a message dated 9/10/2011 4:06:13 P.M. It has been a while ago but can't remember if I ever went to the court house to get them. We can also look at Plat maps and find the exact location of the family farm and go to the court house to get copies of the buying and selling if you are interested. While you are there, you can visit the musuem that you talked about seeing when you were young. It has grown and has a tremendous amount of information. If I can do any prep work for you before you come, give me a heads up. We can exchange our cell phone numbers by email when the time gets closer. If there are cemeteries you want to visit, I think I can safely say I can find them in Platte County for you. It will be great to meet you and be fun to help you look for the records and information that will help your research. Tom, thank you for the Kudos but genealogy is my favorite thing to do since I retired. Being at the cemeteries is my favorite as it is so peaceful and as I take the pictures I feel a special presence but can't explain why or who. Someone is walking with me when I am there. I live, eat and sleep ideas of what and where I can go next. I found the thing I really love in life besides family and think that is why I was put here. It is especially great when I can help others. Paying forward whenever I can. Just so you know that I am not spending all my time on your quest for answers but have some time every now and then to do some looking. Keep hoping something will jump out and I will have something for you. If I can get through those pearly gates without too much hassel that would be great as long as I don't have to change my name to something I cannot even spell. Got to go watch the game.... GO BIG RED!! Still have that in my blood too....
