Tomasz, Yes, the small lettering is problematic, however, I think I have figured it out. The inscription: IRENA, Córeczka (Co~reczka), Franc. i Klary GALUS, um. 28.mar.1911., Lat 2 Translation: IRENA, young daughter, of Frank and Klara (Clara) GALUS, she died 28 Mar 1911, 2 years Klary is the possessive form of Klara. Um. is the abbreviation for umarła (umarl~a), she died...umarł for he died. You sometimes see the abbreviation ur. on a tombstone, which means was born - urodził się (urodzil~ sie~) (masculine), urodziła się (feminine) Regarding the possessive form of Klara - Klary. For the most part (there are exceptions) the feminine nouns ending in -a change to -y. Therefore, in a marriage or birth record you might see the name of the mother end in -y. Maryanny, for example. Ok, wanted to make sure I remembered correctly - they are the same. Take a look on Find a Grave website, search for "Evergreen Cemetery". Comment : Another thought - I think the odd's would favor more Polish immigrants firstly from Prussia than Galacia, from Russia than Glacia, from Prussia than Russia. Everything that I have read over the years seems to support this. Prussia always seems the worst, followed by Russia, and then Galacia. Galacia was administered by the Austrian Hungarian Empire, which in my opinion, are always credited with humane (more or less) treatment which was carried over to occupied Polish lands. Anymore I really don't know. There was a time when you could kinda-sorta judge a persons age, more or less, simply by looking at them. I'm talking about our parents time period back to the earliest of pioneers (judging by their photos). From around 1930 on it seems as if a few select individuals attempt to employ anything and everything in order to look like a 30 year old. Shoot, I haven't looked 30 years of age since I turned 20 !! This has to affect genealogists in research since one can no longer judge a persons age with any degree of accuracy. Sometimes a photo is the only discriminating factor - today one may well look 30, but in the end one may find that they are actually 104, and it's becoming more common place.
