Wow - never considered genealogy to be affected by the poor economy. Lot's of stuff they provide will simply disappear if not picked up elsewhere. Changes coming to be sure. Hi Colfax and Platte counties! Once again <sigh>, I have moved the county files. USGenNet appears to be in financial trouble. Rather than wait for them to shut down without warning (or very little warning), I have opted to move back to rootsweb. Please, please, please. If you find files or images are missing or there are any problems at all, please let me know. I realize I still have some cleaning up to do, but checking 1500 pages (not including images) is about impossible. I don't believe the site search on the Platte County site is working (it needs to re-index first). The Colfax County search should be okay, so let me know if you have any problems. Thank you for your patience. New URLs (actually very old URLs!!!) are below, in my signature block. Tom, the Columbus Days is celebrating this weekend and our Kin Seekers has a booth in the Frankfort Square and a float in the Parade but once we get through this and I finally get just a bit of housework done so it at least looks like I still live at the same location, I will do some research in the local papers and see if I can come up with some answers for you. Keep your fingers crossed for us that we have good weather all weekend..... Shirley

Hello Shirley - Thanks for responding to my SOS. To my knowledge, Peter Lassek's family lived around Duncan. I think in Loup Township. Possibly a neighbor to my Grandfather Frank Lassek. I show : Peter Michael Lassek (1902-1972) Victoria Loretta Gunchick (m. 1927) I reflect general knowledge concerning Delores, their first child. I show her born in 1927 and died in 1931 by my records, but would like the exact birth and death dates which I am unable to find. If I still had my email address book from Alaska then I could contact one of the brothers or sisters directly by email, but when I moved here to Alabama and got a new computer, for some reason I didn't transfer the address book so its "Lost". If someone could help me in this regard, giving me email addresses to the following, then I could probably solve this quickly. Jerome Marvin Lassek born 1930, married Jackie Hellbush in 1957. Joan Evelyn Thompson who married Clarence Louis Lassek (1931-2009) in 1958. Arlene Rose Lassek (b1933-) who married Larence Miller in 1957. Marjorie May Lassek (b1936) who married James Heidenreich in 1957. Eugene John Lassek (b1938) who married Teresa Emily Wokiewicz in 1972. Justena Stella Lassek (b1941) who married Rudy Hernandez in 1961. Roene Travis who married Ronald Lassek (1943-1975) who marked Ronald Lassek in 1964. Any help here is greatly appreciated. Tomaz, are we talking Nebraska, Platte County? Do you have a death date also? or not? ... Shirley
Need some help please. Peter and Victoria (Gunchick) Lassek had a daughter named Delores. I think she was born in the 1920's. I'm looking for the birthdate and where she was born. Tomasz
Yes, welcome back, Toni! We did get some work done in years past. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those who live in Columbus have already seen this, but unless you follow the Telegram you might not. Columbus Days tour to explore early city history By Julie Blum [email protected] The Columbus Telegram * * * Related: Columbus Days schedule COLUMBUS - The public can get a history lesson during the annual Columbus Days celebration through the Early Edition Tour. The event will be Friday and Saturday, taking people on tours of the city to view historical buildings, trails and landmarks in the community. Organizer Rodney Magg said he had wanted to do such a project for a while and joined the Columbus Days planning board to get it off the ground. He hopes to make it an annual event for Columbus Days. "On the tour, we will give everyone an idea of who formed Columbus. They will get a picturesque idea of what it was like," Magg said. The tours will last about an hour and tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for children. People will ride buses through town and stop at more than historical sites. They will be briefed on each on site by tour guides. The tours will start and end at the Platte County Historical Museum. Magg said he worked closely with the Platte County Historical Society for the project. "There is so much colorful information on how Columbus was founded," he said. Some of the stops on the tour include The Opera House, Glur's Tavern, St. Bonaventure Church and Cemetery, American Hotel, the first frame school house, the Evans House and Rickly's Saloon and Sawmill. For the most part, the bus will only stop at locations where the tour guide will talk about the historical site. People will be able to exit the bus at the Loup Ferry Monument at Pawnee Park. The tour will mainly give history of the first 25 years of Columbus. Magg said he was fascinated to discover some of the history of Columbus as he was organizing the event. "I learned what a huge business it was with the wagon trains coming through here. Another thing is the determination of the early settlers. ... It is amazing how things happened here," he said. There will be two buses giving tours starting at 5 p.m. Friday. Tours will start again at 10 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are available at the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and also at an informational booth in Frankfort Square. Copyright 2011 The Columbus Telegram. All rights reserved.
