In my family research I've discovered that land in Wayne County owned by my 2nd Great Grandfather was sold in a Sheriff's Sale to satisfy a judgment against him. Not knowing my family ever owned land, or lived in, Wayne County I'm real curious as to what went on. What I know: Georg Reisinger bought a lot in Wilkes-Barre in 1890 and sold it to Augusta Ruland within 3 days (bought for $500, sold for $2300. You will see that number again) During that period Georg bought a farm in Wayne County from Sebastian Ruland (Augusta's dad) for $2300 Forward to 1902: Sheriff's sale, selling the above mentioned farm plus another property in Wayne County to settle a judgment against Georg brought by Augusta Ruland, administrator of Sebastian Ruland. The article contains the court docket: No. 310, May Term, 1902 Judgement $2,300. The Wayne County Historical Society's researchers have been unable to find the court records and it's either because they have been lost (stored in the courthouse basement, courthouse build on the banks of a river) or that the lawsuit wasn't brought in Wayne County. (They did find the deed for the farm, but nothing on the other property) At the time of the lawsuit both Georg and Augusta resided in Wilkes-Barre and I would not be surprised if it was filed in Luzerne County. Carl, Do you think the snapshot is local? Perhaps it is an early photo of Attila Castellani from Luzerne. I attached a screenshot of your photo and Attila’s side by side. There is a photo in the Citizen Voice article about Castellani in which a young girl is holding a photo of him. (Citizens Voice June 11, 2017). I would try to compare your photo and that one.
