Anyone working on this family ? Juergen (John) Vollstedt b. 15 Oct. 1850 Thaden, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Parents, Juergen Vollstedt and Ann Loeptin. (might be the Jeurgen Vollstedt b. 7 July 1814 Seefeld, Scheswig-Holstein, Germany) Juergen (John) Vollsted (b. 1850) married Marie Warnsholz 2 Sept. 1877 Todenduettel, Scheswig-Holstein, Germany. Juergen (John) Vollstedt and Marie immigrated to the U.S. in 1880ish and settled in Lincoln, NE. According to the 1900 census for Middle Creek Twp. Lancaster Co. they had the following children; John b. Nov. 1884 in NE William b. Oct. 1887 in NE Anne b. Dec. 1889 in NE Henry b. Oct. 1892 in NE Kate b. Oct. 1895 in NE Hermann b. June 1899 in NE I don't know how this family fits into my Witt family if at all, seems the first son, John Vollstedt became a Lutheran Minister, worked in Kansas till 1915 and spent 23 years in Newkirk, Oklahoma, then returned to NE, Stoddard and Hebron and died in 1956. A letter has been passed around in my family for years, nobody ever knowing how my grandfather knew Rev. John Vollstedt. The letter, written by the Rev., dated 1929 refered to a Mrs. Herman Stotz and that she had written John Vollstedt and was asking if my grandfather, Ernest Witt, was alive or dead because she had not heard from him in a long time. How did the Rev. get Ernest Witt's address ?, Ernest Witt b. in 1883 in Mecklenburg, Germany immigrated in 1910, first to Wisconsin then he settled in Elgin, IL. to live his life out there. He had never been near Oklahoma, nor did the church sponser him, nor did my grandfather have any deep connections with the Lutheran church in either place. Havn't gotten that far back on the Witts of Mecklenburg, it's one horrid name to work on in Germany (like Jones here) Makeing my head spin !! Cidney Wheaton, IL.
