    2. These obits were in the Waverly News: Althea Mae Beaman Services for Althea Mae Beaman of Lincoln were held Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln. The former Ceresco resident died Sunday, July 29 at the age of 77. Born in Cedar Bluffs May 18, 1925, Beaman worked in the food service department at Harper Schram Smith Halls at the University of Nebraska since 1973. She was also a food service employee at Raymond Central High School for three years. Beaman was a member of Rock Creek Extension Club and Ladies Aid Lutheran Church in Ceresco. Survivors include husband, Robert; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Brad Williams of Ceresco; sons and daughter-in-law, Dale Beaman of Ceresco and Douglas and Cindy Beaman of Grand Island; grandchildren Craig, Kyle, Kristin, Kari, and Kimberly; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian Lubker of Wahoo, Twila and John Suhr of Scribner, Mavis and Bud Papa of Octavia, Vernon Lubker of Cedar Bluffs, and Ralph Widhelm of North Bend as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gertrude (Rath) Lemke, and sisters, Lillian Lubker and Katherine Widhelm. The Rev. Robert Chitwood officiated at the service. Burial was at Rock Creek/Mt Zion Cemetery in rural Ceresco. Memorials are in care of the family. ****************** Marcus Poteet Memorial services for Marcus "Mike" Poteet of Waverly will be held Monday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home in Lincoln. Poteet, 78, died of a heat attack July 23 while on vacation in Torrance, CA. Born Aug. 6, 1922 to Marcus L. Sr. and Fay Stayner Poteet, he was a lifelong resident of the area. Poteet graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served with the 491st Bom-bardment Group, Second Air Division in Europe, during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3 and VFW Post 131. Poteet was a retired 30-year-old employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, a retired farmer, and was active manger of his farmland in southeast Nebraska. Survivors include wife, Gloria Poteet, Fairbury, NE 68352; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Poteet and Roy Glass, grandchildren, Katherine and Jennifer Glass, and former wife, Virginia Lee Poteet, all of Anchorage, AK 99516. He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Samuel L. Poteet and John R. Poteet. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be by American Legion Post 3. Memorials are to the Region V Services, Ste. 203, 1430 South St., Lincoln, NE 68502; University of Nebraska Foundation, 1111 Lincoln Mall, Lincoln, NE 68508; or World War II Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 96766, Washington D.C. 20090-6766.
