Happy Holidays to all, Well as I maintain 10 Rootsweb lists and have had to deal with some problems on 2 of them that regard Virus messages, etc that are against all List rules, I am taking this opportunity to remind all of you and also any newbies, of these important rules listed below. I will also unsubscribe and ban from the list for a month --anyone sending Virus, Hoax or chain letters to the list or to me privately. Anyone receiving messages about viruses from a list member or if you receive a file attachment that appears to be a reply to a post you made, please remember --DO NOT OPEN any attachments. Use an up-to-date Antivirus program such as Norton 2000 and always notify me if you receive such an attachment and let me know the address of the sender. I will notify the person and unsubscribe them until they get their computer cleaned. Please do not point the finger at another list member on the list----CONTACT me and I will handle it. Write to me at: NELANCAS-admin@rootsweb.com Please do NOT write to me at my personal e-mail address and do not add my address to your address book. PLEASE NOTE: When changing your e-mail address be sure that you unsubscribe your old e-mail address and then subscribe with your new e-mail address and be sure to write to : NElANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com or if subscribed in Digest mode write to NELANCAS-D-request@rootsweb.com and put unsubscribe in the subject line and body of your e-mail with NO other message and be sure to turn off your signature files. 1.IF you post an unsubscribe to the list address of NELANCAS-L@rootsweb.com - You will NOT be Unsubscribed. 2. Please remember to unsubscribe during periods of time that you will be away from your computer, such as vacations and holidays. You can easily resubscribe later. 3. When contacting me regarding the list, please specify which list you are referring to as I maintain 10 Rootsweb lists. Contact ME with list problems OFF LIST, DO NOT take them to the list. Anyone continually taking problems to the list will be unsubbed. REGARDING VIRUS ATTACHMENTS: If for any reason, at any time a message of yours comes through the list with an attachment that contains a virus (for example:.exe) you will be notified and unsubbed from the list IMMEDIATELY. You will be notified, in case you are unaware of it, and unsubbed to protect our other subscribers to the list. PLEASE DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO THE LIST TO SAY "I HAVE A VIRUS DON'T OPEN". YOU CAN AND WILL BE UNSUBBED WITHOUT QUESTION, FOR THIS and the FOLLOWING REASONS: 1.POSTING VIRUS WARNINGS TO THE LIST (Send it to me at the administrative address). 2.REPEATEDLY NOT USING A SUBJECT LINE. 3.POSTING NON-RELATED ITEMS TO THE LIST (This includes "cute messages", "chain letters", "current events","political items","religious text") WE ARE A GENEALOGY LIST ONLY. 4. Flaming or Bashing/ridiculing another listmember. 5.SENDING A VIRUS ATTACHMENT WITH YOUR POST(whether aware of it or not). 6.ATTEMPTING TO BRING TO THE LIST, OPEN DISCUSSION OF ANY PROBLEMS.
