Hi birdsong, My father, John Raymond GLOVER and my mother, Ramona HARPER, were both born and raised in Bennet,NE. My mother's father was Fred HARPER, owner of 'HARPERS DOG AND PONY SHOW" and was brother to Nina G HARPER who married Clarence E. MAY, probably son of your Otto J. and Lula Frances MAY. I have a list of Buriels in Bennet Cemetery which lists as follows: MAY, Clarence E. 1897 - 1976 Nina G. 1897 - 1953 MAY, Myron V. 1895 - 1954 May L. 1895 - 19__ MAY, Herman, father May 27, 1830 - JaN 25, 1919 Wilhelmine M., mother Oct 20 1834 - Apr 11, 1917 MAY, Otto J., father Aug 11, 1876 LuLu Frances, mother 1878 - 1934 There are som more MAY families but I do not if they are related. As a kid mother and I visited Clarance (they called him "Beans"} and Nina often. Nina had a huge salt and pepper collection and Beans was a Veterinarian. They had no children. I have many relatives that lived in Bennet, three generations, and are buried in the Bennet Cem. We had a GLOVER reunion there last June. Are we connected? Ed Glover, Lomita, CA
Hi Ed, Yes, yes, yes, we are connected. Clarence (Beans) was one of my Dad's older brothers. My Dad was Harold MAY, who is also buried at Bennet along with his sister, Thelma MAY Herrin, his aunt and Otto's sister, Emma MAY DeWolf, besides the ones that you mentioned. Uncle Beans and Nina visited us after we moved to Colorado. I remember they didn't like our mountain roads. Just last summer I asked one of the volunteers for "Random Acts of Genealogic Kindness" to photograph headstones in Bennet for me. She photographed all the MAY headstones that she found there. There were a couple that I didn't recognize--Ormond E. May, SGT. 18 Bomb SQ. AC, 1920-1943, and Lucille H. May, 1903-1984 (although she may have been the daughter of Myron and May MAY--did you know them?) Hey, thanks for contacting me with that childhood memory of my Aunt and Uncle. If you think of any other things, I would sure like to hear about them.
