Smith was born to Andy and Margaret Sharkey Smith in Lincoln, Nebraska, June 8, 1902. His grandparents were Oscar Smith and Lizzie Phegley Smith, I have no clue where they were from. Grandpa and his parents went to Oregon at some point, settling around the coast. I don't know if Oscar and Lizzie went at that time or not. William had a sister, Lottie. Andy had some brothers, Amos, George and possibly another one. I have a picture of the Sharkey siblings, Margaret (Marguerite), Tom, Jack, and on the cardboard frame, Israel Wichita Kansas is imprinted (photographers?), so don't know if they are from there or not. I have a picture of Andy and Margaret (Marguerite) Sharkey Smith with Andy's mom, Lizzie Phegley, and two of my grandpa Bill's cousins, Lester Phegley and Albert Phegley and a little girl cousin, Dorothy Shackleford. He wrote on the picture that Lester was a gambler, and Albert hated women. The picture was taken in Canemuk, OR. I found a note that said that Marguerite was raised by a family of Quaker's by the name of Mitchell. She was Irish/German. That's it! I have no more family to go to for info and am new to looking, but loving it. I hate to see the history die. Help!
