Not neccessarly I Have found the correct cousin with a first name and exact birth date As I recall he did have that but don't remember use advanced search for this one was there under her maiden name was 87 years old and never married. She was born in Peoria Illinois lived in Tecumseh, Johnson, Nebraska, and died in Oregon. As mentioned I was able to confirm this was the correct person by her Obit found on ancestry.com but she died in 1998. Her parents lived in University Place, Lancaster, Nebraska. Otherwise, you'll have to discover her married name to find her in that index (IF she has > passed away.)
Message text written by INTERNET:NELANCAS-L@rootsweb.com >The bottom line I guess is trying to locate my half sister< Robert ... I haven't kept your previous messages, but I believe you'd once asked about Lincoln High School yearbooks ... I wonder if you were able to contact the media person I suggested at the school? You know, I think I would try to approach this from the other direction ... e.g. I would start with death information for your father and his first wife. If you can come up with a date/location of death for either of them (perhaps start with Social Security Death Index online), then you could look for a newspaper obituary. The obituary would name survivors, and perhaps give the married name of your half-sister and her place of residence (city). There are some great online telephone directories (Switchboard, Bigfoot, etc.) ... if she lives elsewhere than Lincoln, they could be of great help. If you believe she may have passed away, I would check the Social Security Death Index for LaVerna herself ... check "Campbell" first, on the chance that she never married. Otherwise, you'll have to discover her married name to find her in that index (IF she has passed away.) Maybe consider checking Lancaster Co. probate records for a will that might name your half-sister? ... typically, exact residence addresses of the beneficiaries are listed on one of the documents that accompanies a will. There will not be a NE state birth certificate for your grandfather. Nebraska did not begin state registration for births, marriages, and deaths until 1904. A church record would be your best bet. There are some early Nebraska marriage records on microfilm ... I would check with either the Lincoln Public Library or the Nebraska State Historical Society for these. Oh ... actually I think some of those are on the Lancaster County rootsweb page managed by Kathie Harrison of Lincoln. The Lancaster Co. Courthouse would, however, have a document on file related to the divorce in 1927. The NE State Historical Society archives (1500 "R" Street) has most of the Nebraska newspapers (including Lincoln, of course) on microfilm ... some are indexed .... also Lincoln directories that would no doubt give you the addresses of the groceries your family owned. The staff is very helpful. I am assuming you live in Lincoln -- true? If not, they would be happy to help you by mail for a reasonable fee. I have done this with good success. Hoping some of these suggestions may help you. Jennifer (Safford) David Cincinnati (former Lincolnite)

Ne Queries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ne/Lancaster/10554 Surname: HACKSTOCK, SCHREINER ------------------------- While recently looking to knock down a few block walls in my family search (limited surnames above) I couldn't help but notice the Mosher name on the query board. I have Mosher in my family tree, although very far removed on my maternal grandfathers family (Patrick, Balch, Burdick, Maxson, Mosher). Possibly we have some connection through the Mosher surname? It is not uncommon from what I have found in my research to find a link, just out of luck. When all else fails, just keep trying has always helped me. I am also wondering if you can direct me to someone who can help me find the buriel sites of my paternal fathers family buried in NE. The name is quite unusual HACKSTOCK, but not so uncommon. We have been trying to find the buriel locations as Wyuka Cemetery did not have all the records lost to a fire that destroyed many records. My grandfather is buried at Soldiers Circle in Wyuka, I do have his death certificate. But we have reached a block wall on all other HACKSTOCK members who are buried in Nebraska. Thanks to the Trinity Lutheran Church, they were able to verify that other family members were in the Lincoln, NE in the late 1800's. My late aunt had written to them in 1981. I know this may be a strange request, but your answer to a query about Wyuka made me feel that you are more familiar with the Nebraska area and might be able to point me in the right direction.
Stephen. Thanks so much for your help and the information. My father his father and grandfather were Lincolnites. My grandparents Campbell's owned country stores in Lincoln. I have a picture of their last store. I will be posting soon. Thanks again. Bob Campbell
