Hi everyone. I am in the process of adding over 200 Lincoln, Nebraska Churches, addresses & phone numbers to the Lancaster County Church Index page for those of you that would like to find information on family baptisms, etc. to help in your family research. More will be added in the next few days. They are listed in alphabetical order. If you have any of the small town church addresses & phone numbers for Lancaster County, please submit them to me for addition to the index. Also if you have any access to old member lists or other church related records, consider submitting them for me to add to these pages. Many researchers will benefit from getting old records added online. Here are the first of many of the Lincoln, Nebraska Churches: <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lncchurch.html"> Churches Index of Lancaster County, NE</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lncchurch.html <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lincolnchurches.html" > Churches of Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lincolnchurches.html <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lincolnchurches2.html ">Churches of Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE - pg. 2</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lincolnchurches2.html <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lincolnchurches3.html ">Churches in Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE pg.3</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lincolnchurches3.html Take care ~Kathie Harrison Lancaster Co., NEGenWeb Coordinator http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lancindex.html Harrison Roots & Branches home page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/index.html ListMom of Rootsweb mail lists: NELANCAS-L, NEDIXON-L, NESAUNDE-L & MEDICAL-GENEALOGY-L <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/oldtime.html"> Old-Time Medical Terminology</A> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/oldtime.html

My parents went to Marysville, Marshall Co., KS in 1946. (Happy to report it worked out.) Lots of people went to KS to get married up thru 1935 and later. Possibly Iowa, don't know an easy way to narrow it down further with out writing to each state to see if there is a marriage on record for them donna

Thanks Donna, I guess I will have to go on a which hunt, wish me good luck. Bob.
many young people went to Kansas as the age for a girl was under 18 to legally be married and a man I think 18...... but most likely have been the closest place. donna
In 1925 to where would two young people (girl underage) elope. Case in point, my father Robert Martin Campbell, third generation of Lincoln at the age of twenty years was coerced into a marriage, to Edna Mae Duling, born in Lincoln. No Marriage License found in Lincoln. A girl was born my half sister, La Verne Campbell, August 13, 1926, at 1117 Plum St. Lincoln, the couples residence. In 1925, where would have been the most likely place for an under age girl to get married out side of Lincoln? Where should I check for a marriage license? Bob Campbell.

I want to apologize to the list about my admonishment of an off-topic post to the list recently but also want to remind everyone that the list rules must be adhered to and I do expect folks to follow the list guidelines. I am going to repost them for the benefit of all new and longtime subscribers. The point of this list is to discuss Lancaster County history & family genealogy. I would like to see more participation to the list to make it more interesting and helpful for you all. If there are topics that are questionable that you are considering posting, please first contact me to see if it is an appropriate topic or if it will be allowed. This is the basic welcome message for new subscribers to the list: Please read this entire message before you post a message to NELANCAS-L@rootsweb.com You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to NELANCAS-L as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to "digest mode" are given below. 1. Purpose. The NELANCAS-L list is for discussion of the history of Lancaster County, Nebraska, and the genealogy of Lancaster County families. Discussion of history and genealogy is also welcome. 2. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to NELANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text (if you have difficulty removing your signature lines, you can put the word "quit" on the line after "unsubscribe"). If your E-mail address goes bad or your mailbox fills up, you'll be automatically unsubscribed by the mailing list software after the fourth message in a row bounces back to RootsWeb. 3. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to NELANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com. 4. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "subscribe" to NELANCAS-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. Second, send the command "unsubscribe" to NELANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. 5. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 6. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to NELANCAS-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. Don't send it explicitly to both mailing lists. 7. The Administrator of the NELANCAS-L list is Kathie Harrison, NelliBlu28@aol.com . If you have problems getting unsubscribed from the list or have any other difficulties with the list, write to me (not to the list) and I'll try to resolve the problem. 8. Even if you decide not to save this message, please try to remember that, like all the COUNTY-L lists at RootsWeb, the subscribe and unsubscribe messages go to NELANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com, not to the NELANCAS-L@rootsweb.com list itself. If such messages do appear on the list, I'll manually subscribe or unsubscribe the person, though. 9. The mailing list is presently installed at rootsweb.com, which is the home of the RootsWeb. See http://www.rootsweb.com for information about RootsWeb. It's not necessary to pay anything to subscribe to any of its surname mailing lists. 10. Message format and attachments. Please submit messages only in plain text, and don't submit attachments. Many of our subscribers are using software that cannot read attachments. Please, always use a helpful subject line like "John DOE d. 1870 in Lancaster Co., NE", rather than a generic one like "inquiry about my family line". 11. Advertising. Technically, RootsWeb has a "no commercial use" policy. Like all RootsWeb policies, though, the last thing that we want is for policy to get in the way of our doing genealogy. Therefore, the NELANCAS-L list will accept brief announcements of books and other resource material for sale that is specifically related to this county. Don't include prices and ordering info; just include a pointer to a URL, a commercial mailing list, or an E-mail address where the complete ordering information can be found. In case of doubt, send the message to the List Administrator, NelliBlu28@aol.com, and I'll review it and forward it to the list if appropriate. 12. Copyrights. Any person sending a message to this list retains the copyright to it. By sending the message, you grant to the list administrator, and to his heirs and assigns forever, permission to distribute copies of the message to other list members, to store archival copies of the message, and to make the archival copies available to the Internet community at large. You also grant to other list members the right to quote your message in part or in total as a part of their replies sent back to the list. 13. Archives. At present, the archival copies are stored at Rootsweb.com and can be retrieved by anyone. To get a list of the messages that have been archived, send a message to NELANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com with the subject archive SEARCH Subject: latest/* and nothing in the body of the message. You'll get back a message that looks like this: ARCHIVE search subject: latest/* BEGIN---------------cut here------------------ latest/23:10:Subject: Re: John DOE query (fwd) latest/24:12:Subject: Looking for Samuel FORWOOD latest/25:15:Subject: inquiry latest/26:15:Subject: Hitchcock Md.>Ar.>Ok.>Ar. & other western states latest/27:17:Subject: Jon Harlan END-----------------cut here------------------ If you decide you want to read the message about John Harlan, the "latest/27:" part of the line identifies the file containing the message. Send another message to NELANCAS-L-request@rootsweb.com with the subject archive SEND latest/27 and nothing in the body. You can request several messages at once, but please don't request more than ten at a time. 14. No-nos. Please do not submit virus alerts, chain letters, or other off-topic material to the list. Don't send copies of copyrighted material. Vulgarity and personal attacks on other list members are also unwelcome. Don't send messages exceeding 8 kilobytes in length. If someone else violates these rules, please do not send their message back to this list! That just magnifies the problem, and defeats our anti-spam defenses at Rootsweb. Again, my apologies to you all .......now let's get back to Lancaster County genealogy. Please consider posting your surnames and brickwalls to the list now to see if you can get some help in finding that missing clue to your family tree. Happy hunting!
