Hi Ahlive! You might try the UNL Special Collections and University Archives http://www.unl.edu/libr/libs/spec/specar1.html Contact them to see if they would be able to photocopy items of interest on the person you are looking for information on in the specific years. I was able to get copies of my Grandfather's photos and his employment records since he was a Professor of Music there from 1920-1955. The cost was minimal and I was so pleased with the photos. I can't promise anything but you can at least give it a try. Of course I was lucky since my Grandpa was also one of the original "Seven" who founded the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra which is now in its 75th year! Hello All: Does anyone know if there were year books for the years 1922-1924? My father graduated from the University of Nebraska during that time and was wondering if and where a picture would be available. Thank you - Ahlive
The Lancaster County, NE Church page has been updated. The Sacred Heart Catholic Church All names member list of the year 1969 for D-J surnames has been added. This is an ongoing project so be sure to check often for updates and additions to this and other Lancaster County pages. Coming soon will be Yankee Hill Cemetery of Lincoln, NE which will be a database of over 1300 burials and will be periodically updated; and I have been told by a representative of Roper and Sons Funeral Homes that they will be working with me to provide their database of names and dates of all cases served since 1907. The fields contained will be name, date-of-death, place-of-death, city, and state. Please watch for details coming soon on this wonderful resource to be added to the Lancaster County pages. Sacred Heart Church List - D thru J - Lincoln, Lancaster Co., NE http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/nelanc/shchurchlist2.html Remember that if you have any old church lists, bulletins, etc that you think might be useful for others, please contact me about submitting them for the Lancaster County, NEGenWeb site. I just received the marriage certificate for my G-grandfather John Andrew Hogan and his first wife Anna MORN. I would like to find out more about her and her parents. Her parents names were Dennis MORN & Ann MCFALL MORN. The marriage was in 1887 in Lancaster Co., NE. I know that they had 4 daughters and a son, and my own grandmother was from the second marriage to Mary Ann O'GARA. The first wife Anna was 19 at the age of her marriage to my G-grandfather John HOGAN who was 30. Both were born in Scotland (SCOTCH-IRISH). Does anyone have a connection to the MORN family? Anna was supposed to have died in childbirth but I don't know any more than this. Any help is appreciated. HOGAN FAMILY http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/hogan.html Take care ~Kathie Harrison Harrison Roots & Branches home page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/index.html
My cousin in Lincoln sent me these clippings from unidentified Lincoln (I guess) newspapers. One has a handwritten date of Aug 2, 1895. They are obviously the same party, but the names are spelled differently in some cases, and the names are different on each list. My great grandparents are there - it's the summer before they were married (Bird Johnson and my great grandfather is just listed by his last name of Gardner). Maybe one of you will find a family member here. Maybe someone on the list can tell me where Burlington Beach is? Mary Brockmeyer ********* Miss Grace Ramsay entertained a merry crowd of young people at the beach last Wednesday evening. Miss Ramsay deserves to be congratulated for her great success as a hostess. Her party was one of the most delightful of the season. The evening was devoted to dancing. The guests were: Misses Lillian Peters, Florence Hale, Loretta Kelly, Anderson of Sioux City, Anna Griffith, Lotta Cooper, Fisher of Fairmont, Stella Hoyt, Louise Fowler, Bird Johnson, Eda Carpenter, Paul of Hastings, Alice Sheldon, Lottie Clark, Laura Dethlefs, Frankie Stile, Jennie Stewart, Emma McWhinnie, Edna Pierce; Mesdames Smith of Denver, Platt of Beatrice, Strickland, Forbes and Ramsay; Messrs. I have just gotten this photo of Simon P. BENADOM who was an early pioneer to Nebraska Territory and was well-known in Lincoln, NE. He was a personal friend of then-Governor David Butler. Simon's grandson, LeRoy Benadom Smith married my grandaunt Viola Harrison. I was visited today by the granddaughter of Lee's sister Beulah. Phyllis Jean (nee Francies) Bryant is a direct descendant of Simon and she and I share the granduncle and aunt by marriage. The day was spent visiting and scanning all the old photos that she brought with her. I will be adding some old photos to the Lancaster County pages soon. I wanted to share a sneak peek at the photo of Simon P. Benadom with horse and buggy on 27th Street in Lincoln when it was all rural! This photo is circa 1870. There is also material written about this man on the following websites: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/nelanc/simonpbenadom.jpg 1889 HISTORY OF LINCOLN NEBRASKA - Title Page http://www.livgenmi.com/1889NElincolnhistorytitle.htm Early Settlers of Lancaster County, NE http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/nelanc/settlers.html Take care ~Kathie Harrison Lancaster Co., NEGenWeb Coordinator http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/lancindex.html Harrison Roots & Branches home page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/index.html ListMom of Rootsweb mail lists: NELANCAS-L, NEDIXON-L, NESAUNDE-L & MEDICAL-GENEALOGY-L Old-Time Medical Terminology http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/oldtime.html

Hi! Not sure if this is where I go with this question, but visited your cemetery list and found it very interesting. Should I , or maybe I should say, would you be interested in adding my grandfather's name to the Wyuka list. I realize it probably wouldn't be of interest to very many, but who knows? Is that how you get entries to the list. I just recently obtained the information from the Director of Development as a result of a message on your Lancaster Co Web site. Mary Jane Parsons<><

Am looking for information on my grandfather, Thomas N. Saunders, who was buried in Wyuka cemetery in 1924. According to family stories, he was buried there by his second wife. Where do I go to find who the second wife was, when and where they were married, and were there any children born in this marriage, as he was only 37 when my grandmother died while they were living in Lincoln? Would really appreciate any help I can get. Thank You, Mary Jane Parsons

Genealogy Tip of the Day Major Rate Increase for U.S. Social Security Application Requests If you have been procrastinating sending off for a Social Security application for any of your ancestors, now is the time to do it! Effective July 1, 2001, there will be a major fee increase for processing requests for copies of original applications for Social Security cards and for computer extracts of this information. This has been confirmed with Roger Williams in the FOIA office of the SSA. New Fees (effective July 1, 2001): Copies of the original application for a Social Security card (Form SS-5) will cost $27 if the social security number is provided, and $29 if it is not provided. These fees were previously $7 and $16.50, respectively. Computer extracts of the application will cost $16 with the number and$18 without. Requests postmarked prior to July 1, 2001 will not be subject to the new fees. So, if you've procrastinated on your requests, get them in now! Requests posted on or after July 1, 2001, will be returned if they do not include the new amount and a credit card number has not been provided to charge for additional costs. Social Security Records: Step-by-Step
I used the wyuka@navix.net address for the Wyuka Historical Foundation to find out information on my grandfather as I knew he was buried in Wyuka. They e-mailed me back what lot he was buried in along with his birthdate and deathdate, none of which I had known before. It was sent to me from Ed Holbrook, Director of Development of the Historical Foundation.
