Sorry, but I'm not very creative today when it comes to the subject line. Here are the Lancaster Co. (and other SE Nebr counties also.) surnames I'm researching: SCHNIRL, (SCHNERL), GREVE, and REED living in Lincoln area 1890's to present and also town of Denton, NE. I think any further back and they are primarily in Otoe County. I'd really like to get my hands on a divorce date for Edmond SCHNIRL and Marie REED. They were divorced sometime between 1900 and 1920, but I've yet to find either person in the 1910 census, so that I can narrow it down a bit more. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm also looking for their marriage papers. They were living in Otoe Co. but according to a very helpful lady and the Morton-James library in Nebr. City, there is no record in that county. They were living in the corner of the county close to Lincoln, so she suggested I try Lancaster Co. They were married abt 1884. Is there anyone who goes down to the county offices in Lincoln that would be willing to do a lookup, possible trade some research time? I do a lot of work with the census and I do get a chance once in awhile to get downtown to the genealogical dept at the Denver Public Library. If anyone has information about these families, please drop me a line. I can also give more information if you need it. Thanks, Susan
Hi to all you helpful people-- I would like to request a census lookup for: Otto J. MAY b. ILL age: 24 Occupation: farmer place of residence: Bennet, NE Spouse: Lulu b. ILL age: 22 Children: Myron b. NE age 5 Clarence b. NE age 3 Otto and Lulu were married in Lincoln, but lived in Bennet for most of their married life. The children were all born in Bennet. Thanks
If you're searching for a particular person please make sure you include spouses name and children, if there are any. If I have to search "John Smith" there are probably going to be a TON of them but if you can tell me his wifes name then I can use that to narrow it down *and* if you can tell me where you think he lived then thats even better!! -Grace
Hello everyone! Although I have no relatives that were even close to Nebraska, most were from CT, NY, NJ and FL, I love to help. I have access to the Nebraska 1900 census index with copies of the pages and I volunteer to take tombstone pictures here in Lancaster County (but I have to put it on hold until spring!) So if I can help you out in any way, let me know and I will do my best! -Grace

Grace, you sent this to Joycej1 by mistake. Just thought you would want to check so you could send it to the right person. I checked the 1900 census and did not see them in Nebraska, if this helps narrow down your years. -Grace > Searching for information on the William Macy family. I'm curious. Do I have to receive copies of everyone's emails to you? I would rather not if it is possible. I only want to see the ones that pertain to my searches. Is this possible? I know that there are alot of "newbies" out there to genealogy mail lists and also many of us who are "seasoned" but need helpful reminders on how to post good queries to a list. I thought maybe that posting these tips would be helpful to many of you. Tips for Posting Accuracy is important and sources are vital. Ancestor lists are worthless if the information is wrong. All information need not be accompanied by source citations, but I do recommend strongly that posts either include sources or a note stating that they are available on request. If information is speculation then label it as such until it is proven or commonly accepted as fact. When posting your query try to give as much information as you know, such as dates and places of all vital events if known, along with enough other family members so that the reader can positively identify if they are researching the same family. "Anyone out there researching CALDWELL'S?" is way too broad and most likely won't get you the results that you are hoping for. When posting your query it is helpful to make the message as readable as possible. One paragraph, a page long, full of names and dates, is too tedious to decipher and most people won't bother to take the time to do so. Write surnames in CAPITAL letters. They are much easier to read and are the generally accepted way to write surnames. When replying to a list (this also can apply to private replies) try to quote some portions of the previous message so that other readers are reminded what the "thread" is about. Make it clear what is quoted material and what you are adding. Most mail readers take care of this for you by inserting greater than signs ">" at the beginning of each quoted line or possibly double brackets "<<" before and ">>" after the quoted piece. Use standard Windows procedures to "cut" unnecessary material. By all means NEVER hit the reply button without CHANGING the SUBJECT line! Post your query at least monthly if you have not yet found the information you are seeking regarding your ancestor. New people are joining these lists all the time and they may have the information that you need. Please send all replies to the list you are on, not just to the original poster. Check your SEND TO: and include the list address and the original poster's address. Other members may benefit from the data that you provide. That is why it is important to post to both. Kathie I just had a thought and have no idea how viable <grin> . Hospitals probably have privacy issues, but I wonder if they participate in genealogy research. Since there are only 3 in Lincoln it might be worth a try to see if they would have a birth record to share. Probably a long shot............
