HAYES LAKE George Baker LAKE Born 15 Sept 1826 in Greenfield, Sarasota Co, NY Buried 29 July 1910, 82years Lot 10 Married 1. Dec 1851 to D.A. Poppleton of Belleville OH (d. 1854) 2. Zada Jane Poppleton (d. 1860) 3. 1861 Abbie G. HAYES eldest s/o Walter C. and Nancy Williams LAKE (died early, leaving six children) Geo moved to OH with his parents in 1835. He attended Oberlin College and studied law in various offices before being admitted to the bar in 1851. Practiced law at Elyria, OH before he came to NE in 1857. He was in partnership with A.J. Poppleton, was elected to territorial Legislature for Douglas Co in 1859 and in 1866 was elected Associate Judge of NE Supreme Court. He helped draft the NE Constitution for statehood. Children with D.A.: George with Zada Jane: Carrie Jane MORTON with Abbie: Mary (m. Charles L. DEUEL) Dr. Frederick W. Charles B.
