We have no question that your dates of birth and death for David are correct as they match well with our research. We question however David's birthplace as being in Fairfield County, Iowa rather than Appanoose County, Iowa as multiple documents would suggest. Our premise of David's birth in Union Township, Appanoose(a)County, Iowa comes from his father and grandfathers locations in 1850, 1852, 1856 and 1860 Federal & State Censuses, land & marriage records. David's Father & grandfather, Silas & William Kent came from Union County, Ohio, through Sangamon County, Illinois. William's daughter Lucinda married Elias Spicer in Sangamon County, Illinois also in 1847 and remained there. William's oldest son Alexander enlisted in the Military, fought and died in the Mexican/Spanish War and as a result provided a land grand in 1848 for his father William as his heir which he collected in Illinois and utilized in Iowa. William Kent purchased land in Fairfield County, Iowa, while listed as living in Monroe County, Iowa, then multiple land purchases in Appanoose County, Iowa from 1850-1868 where he continued to live until his death. Said Alexander Kent is 26 years of age and was born in the state of Ohio, Union County, five feet 7 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, red hair, and by occupation when enlisted a farmer,. Given at New Orleans this 26 day of 1847, A. C. Campbell, Leiut. David's mother's parents and siblings were also in Appanoose County, Iowa in censuses in 1852, 1856 & 1858. And in 1850 in neighboring Davis County, Iowa. So, at present the bulk of the evidence points to Appanoose County, Iowa. No birth/church record for David has yet been found, too young for civil war, too old and deceased for WWI records. A check or recheck of the land records for possible sale/purchase of land by William Kent or Silas Kent for Fairfield County, Iowa land could be a possible scenario with Silas there in between censuses and could be checked, also church, tax, and land in Fairfield County, Iowa may prove or disprove your theory.
