Saturday is our 5th in the annual Family History Series. It will start a bit after 9:00 at the Mormon Trail Center here in Omaha. (They've got a quilt show going on, so we'll be in the smaller classroom again...and you're welcome to browse through the quilts at break or after the class. Some are modern, some historical. We will probably have to enter through the upstairs again.) If you are not registered from attending a previous class this year, please email _Genclass@aol.com_ (mailto:Genclass@aol.com) or call 706-1453. The classes are free, sponsored by Omaha Public Library and Greater Omaha Genealogical Society. We'd also appreciate knowing if you are pre-registered from a previous class and can't attend this one. The first class is: Searching the World's Records Without Leaving Omaha, an overview of the resources available through the LDS Family History Centers. And if you've only heard rumors of them putting their 3 million reels of microfilm plus microfiche online, here's a chance to get more information about the project (and how people can help by donating an hour or two of time here and there...if they have internet access or will go to a local Family History Center.) To not utilize these resources, is to shoot oneself in the foot genealogically, because they have records from many different religions and many different countries around the world. Come find out about it. The second class is: Telling the Story and Documenting the Tale. We will discuss writing the stories of our ancestors and writing down where we found the information for everything we find. "Genealogy without documentation is mythology." You've heard it a lot, and here's ideas on how to make sure that people can't say that all your hard work is made up. Hope to see many of you there. (An FYI, while it isn't ready for distribution yet, we did finish the initial reading of Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery last week. The remaining information has to be typed up and about half of the cemetery proof-read, but it's getting closer to release. It will probably be put on CD rom, due to the fact that there are over 900 pages WITHOUT an index at this point.) See you Saturday! ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
