Also, be aware that while the Pioneer cemetery in the Florence area across the street from the Trail Center is probably the largest of the pioneer cemeteries, it is only one of them. There's a lot of research currently to try to locate & identify the pioneer cemeteries. There were several on the Nebraska side of the river, and several more on the Iowa side, in as much as there were some 90 communities in the area started by the pioneers using the area as a staging area for the trek west.
