I would write to the National Archives in Washington DC, and it might not hurt to write or email your Representatives & Senators. When I think that the records from the War of 1812 have not been microfilmed or digitized, I cringe. Can you imagine how fragile that paper must be by now. What neglect! I know that one of the national genealogy societies has been trying to raise funds to get both the US Colored Troops from the Civil War and the War of 1812 actual records filmed for preservation. Washington needs to get on the stick. Some things are higher priority than some of the other things that they give money out hand over fist.
