Really interesting; I have Shepards living in that area in the same general timeframe. Hmmmm. Please inform the List as you get clues. I know of no "rumor" that any of my Dad's siblings or close cousins were adopted, but you never know..... thanks steve shepard from California -----Original Message----- From: nedougla-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nedougla-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2008 3:30 PM To: NEDOUGLA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NEDOUGLA] Shepard/Hull adoption circa 1938 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. It was built in the 1890's and I am interested in any deaths that occurred in the house itself, or the trail of ownership since it was built. I know this seems like a strange request, but I hope someone can help, or if not, point me to someone who can. Thanks in advance! According to Nebraska Law the Nebraska Children's Home is required to help you find her, have you checked with them? That is the 1st thing that would need to be done, although I don't think they would talk to you they would have to talk to the person adopted. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <NEDOUGLA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2008 5:29 PM Subject: [NEDOUGLA] Shepard/Hull adoption circa 1938 > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: suzieR|MA217082 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.nebraska.counties.douglas/4834/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I am helping a friend's mother to find who her real parents are. > According to the adoption papers I have, her pre-adoption name was Sandra > Dee Shepard, born May 12, 1937. Has your friend's mother contacted the Nebraska Children's Home. The society's website has information about searching: http://adoption.nchs.org/searchservices/index.asp Given the limited information you have (no birth parents' names, or any other information) this is probably the best option. The dates you provide don't make sense; one or both of these must be in error? Best of luck!
