    3. received the notice - thanks! Wish I could come but unfortunately I'm in Houston, TX...but fortunately it's a lot warmer here than in Omaha! I don't miss the snow and cold at all! :)Janice ----- Original Message ---- From: "Sahara346@aol.com" <Sahara346@aol.com> To: nedodge@rootsweb.com; nedougla@rootsweb.com; necasst@rootsweb.com; nesarpy@rootsweb.com; nesaunders@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, January 31, 2008 8:58:16 AM Subject: [NEDOUGLA] from Greater Omaha PAF User's group (& other gen. programs) Greetings to GO-PAF Members and Friends ………. Here’s the usual reminder about the upcoming meeting – Friday, Feb. 1, 7 pm, at the LDS Church, 110th & Martha, just northwest of 108th & Center. Use the Family History Center entrance by the south driveway and follow those signs to our meeting room. With all the trouble I’ve had recently getting this reminder to everyone, you just might receive more than one attempt. If convenient, please let me know that you received this message ok. (This is version A.) The program this month is “Scanning & Organizing Your Family History Photos” into both PAF and Family Tree Maker. Louise will demonstrate how to do it, both by using a scanner and, probably, by downloading from a camera or other sources. Should the weather be really bad, check your email late Friday afternoon – if we should have to cancel the meeting, we will (try to) send out an alert. Or, call one of the names in the newsletter. And, always, use your own best judgment to insure your safety. We hope to see you there! ………… Roger Fitch for GO-PAF Users Group **************Start the year off right. 3. The SSDeath Index is where I found his death. The only date given is the month and year. Nebraska apparently doesn't have a public death index, at least not that I could find on ancestry.com. Sorry....I wish the SSDI was more complete. Michele Heiderer, Arlington WA (about 60 miles north of Seattle and freezing right now!!) 1. [NEDOUGLA] Last call for the genealogy class Jan 19th
    2. The first in our series of classes is tomorrow, Jan 19, 9:00 AM here in Omaha at the Mormon Trail Center. The class is sponsored by the Greater Omaha Genealogy Society and the Omaha Public Library. (We moved to the Trail Center because they have more space, and we've often had groups larger the library class rooms can hold. Pre-register at 706-1453 or _Genclass@aol.com_ (mailto:Genclass@aol.com) so we know how many handouts to prepare. We will discuss getting started, genealogy computer programs (with a demonstration of how to put data into one after the class for about 20 minutes), using home sources, the importance of documenting sources, and answering some "getting started questions. A great way to get started, or to sharpen skills if you've been away for awhile. There will be classes on 3rd Saturday mornings through June (except May when the National Genealogy Society is holding their conference in Kansas City. For those interested, we can have a quick tour of the genealogy department at the W. Dale Clark Library AFTER the class is over. **************Start the year off right.
