There is now a link to a listing of Omaha area funeral directors...including historical and present day sites, with the name of the company that took over--if known. _www.omahaobits.wordpress.com_ (http://www.omahaobits.wordpress.com) Some of the aol.com email requests are going quirky. There is no depending on them these days, apparently. A solution is being worked on. Karen **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. The building that housed the Omaha World-Herald building in the 1920s was demolished in the late 1970s. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <NEDOUGLA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2008 10:13 PM Subject: [NEDOUGLA] pictures wanted of Omaha buildings > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: db1297627 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.nebraska.counties.douglas/4853/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I'm hoping someone can take some digital pictures of the old Bouquet Hotel > and also of the old Omaha World Herald newspaper building, if they are > still standing. Could you please e-mail me off the rootsweb site at madelyn.roy@sbcglobal.net. I have a question about the index found on this site. I have some other questions about the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society as well. Madelyn Anderson Roy -- MAVMOM18@aol.com wrote: I am sorry if someone has had problems with their requests. The weather has be pretty lousy most days, and it tends to keep some of us from venturing outside to the library. If anyone is having problems getting obit requests, they may email me and I will get them for them or find someone that can do it. This website was put up by Greater Omaha Genealogical Society as a way to help people outside of Omaha, and also raise a little money for our costs of putting it online. It is very much a work in progress, although we do have over 114,000 names on it so far. We have been busy adding more. We also have added a Mortuary Listing of all Mortuaries in Omaha and the years they were in business. The link is on the the society website, _www.gogsmembers.wordpress.com_ (http://www.gogsmembers.wordpress.com) . Also, coming soon to our library, W. Dale Clark, through fundraisers and grants, we have purchased all the marriage records for Douglas County, Nebraska (around 200 reels). Though they are not indexed, they are in certificate number order. We are very excited about all this and hope it will help out of town researchers. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. Our main contact has been having computer problems, and has lost quite a bit of her emails. Happy researching. Our originally scheduled speaker will be with us in April. Tonight we will learn about the resources in Cass county. If you have family that lived there, and can make it through the cold, please join us at Greater Omaha Genealogical Society's meeting, 7 PM, Crown Point retirement center. Brave the cold and join us.
