The church was contacted directly a couple of times, and while they cashed the check right away, no copies were ever sent. Thomas was married previously to Fanny Conroy. They had 4 children and Fanny died in 1919. The census of 1930 shows Thomas & Laura living together on a farm in Wood River with 2 children, Bernard & Harold, ages 10 & 8. I know from family history that these children were not Thomas's, so I suspect Laura was previously married. She was single & living with a sister in the 1920 census. I have contacted the state's vital records twice & they can't find any record of her marriage to Thomas. Thomas was born in Wood River in 1882 & died in 1932. Laura was born in 1895 around Hooper, Dodge Co., & died in 1988 in Omaha. Can anyone help? I would also like an obit on Laura. I'm looking for descendents of men who served in the 5th Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War. Many of the soldiers moved into Nebraska in the 1870s.
