My great grandmother, Amelia, had two children Rosa and Howard. Howard died in his early twenties from, I believe, a heart condition. Rosa, or Rose as we called her, married Richard (Dick) Allen Supplee and they had one son, Richard Allen Supplee, Jr., who was my dad -- he died in 1983. Actually, they did have another son, but he was stillborn or something. In any case I believe he is buried in Northwood Cemetery where we have a family plot. Rose and Dick divorced and he moved to California and later remarried. She married a dentist, Gordon -- can't remember his last name off-hand -- then they divorced and she married a Rosario Farone. They moved to Feasterville where she lived until she died in 1978. That's funny that you live so close. Actually my sister, Sue, and I grew up in Bustleton by Bowler Street, and graduated from Washington High School. We will have to get together and compare notes. I have Malcolmson and Whitman questions also which you might know. I wish I would have been interested in this stuff while my Grandma Rose or Dad was still alive. When I was little it seemed we kept in touch with at least part of that side of the family quite a bit, but I guess maybe it was after Amelia (my Grandma Schauer) died we sort of lost contact. Seems as though you're doing just fine with your typing and the computer. It can become addictive. Anyway, take care and I'm sorry for rambling. Thank you for replying to my query. I actually haven't done much with Ancestry.com lately so I'm not even quite sure what I was doing - I think I felt that I was kind of at a dead end. But I do know that the Abendroths were somewhat of a problem for me. I have a couple of old photos, which when I get a chance I will send to you if you would be interested, of people who I'm sure they're Abendroths, but I'm not quite sure how they fit. I have a few from 1955 which my Dad has marked "Aunt Gert," who I'm sure was my great grandmother's sister. One is identified as just "Sister," who looks quite a bit like "Aunt Gert" but a bit younger, so I'm thinking she's a younger sister of my great grandmother's (she may even be your grandmother.) Anyway, before I get you as confused as I am, I will try to figure out where I was on Ancestry and get back to you after the holidays. My name is Margaret, but since we're cousins :) you can call me Peggy, Supplee Weissman, I'm 60 years old and I live just outside of Philadelphia in Holland, Bucks County. Thank you again. I'm so excited - I feel as though you've just given me an early Christmas present. Hope you have a wonderful holiday. Harriet, born circa 1865 in Nebraska, appears to have been their only child. I have solid information on James F. VanDerCook. He died 20 January, 1904 in Florence and lies buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha. However, I have been unable to trace either Julia or Harriet. Did Julia take a third husband? Did Harriet ever marry? I have been a VanDerCook family researcher for well over 20 years and am trying to clear up a few details in this line. Based on what I have found so far, it seems likely that Julia was one of the first women physicians practicing in Nebraska. I live in Austin, Texas, but we make frequent visits to the MidWest -- and we do lots of genealogy in the Omaha area. I have photos of Sophie and her husband and son...and we have marked her grave in Omaha...and I have her death certificate, etc. But maybe there will be more clues with Valentine. 1. [NEDOUGLA] Effie Crosser
    2. Westlawn Section 23 Effie Crosser 8/15/1934 Harry Crosser 12/2/1936 No stones These, I believe, are usually interment dates, since they came from the cemetery data base. Sometimes they give the death date in cemetery records, but most don't seem to in historic cemetery records. More modern ones are better for completeness. Our genealogy society (Greater Omaha Genealogical Society) is working on Westlawn-Hillcrest and has pretty much finished reading. However, we're not working on the proof reading right now, as it's 21 degrees out, and we have gotten a couple skiffs of snow. Any actual work IN Omaha area cemeteries is on hold at least until March, and probably not until April--depending on spring weather. In the meantime, we continue to code for plot & lot (since stones aren't always in neat rows any more if they ever were, when we can get the interment data base, we can sometimes have some kind of basis for lining people up into the family plot. So far, only Evergreen has not allowed us to have access to their interment records for people who have no stones of the cemeteries that we've worked on since we started Omaha's city cemeteries.) We're still hoping to get Springwell out soon, last minute coding of plot & lot is continuing and is almost done. 1. Re: [NEDOUGLA] ROUSEK ancestors
    2. Two sources you will want to check for Douglas and for about an hour and a half drive in any direction for the obits in Omaha papers: _www.omahaobits.wordpress.com_ (http://www.omahaobits.wordpress.com) has over 130,000 obits (sorry, even though we keep adding, we don't have enough helpers to get it "done" much faster than it's going up. _www.omahamarriages.wordpress.com_ (http://www.omahamarriages.wordpress.com) soon will have over 60,000 entries for Douglas county marriages. Many of those marrying here were from other places in Nebraska, western Iowa, and some even further afield. Maybe those will help. Coming soon (maybe by the end of the year) will be a birth registry for births that show up in early Omaha papers. Rarely is the child's name mentioned, sometimes it's Mr & Mrs., sometimes it's only the dad, and sometimes both parents are listed. They don't give the exact birth date, but it's probably better than nothing, especially if a child is born and dies between censuses, one gets a rough idea of the birth date. So far, I don't have 1,000 names collected yet...and lots of papers don't list any births, so it will be a very slow growing site...and it does NOT give the child's name in any of the entries I've found. We aren't going to be pulling them from current newspapers. Karen In a message dated 12/3/2008 3:29:37 P.M.
