    2. Hello Everyone   South Omaha Sun was a weekly newspaper from December 27, 1951 to August 31, 1983. In this paper they had birth announcements, wedding announcements and pictures of brides. It even has people who retired from packing houses and other places of busniess.   Right know it has obituaries from 1951 to 1957. I have start to put them on Find A Grave so if you see one of your family member. Please e-mail and I will sent one out to you. Douglas Co. Questions? When did your family come to the states? Did Clara travel and perform (I was 11 when I took lessons, didn't know how to ask!)? Did the whole family end up in Omaha, or how did she? 1. Re: [NEDOUGLA] Winter Quarters - Mormon Pioneer Cemtery - 1840s LDS records?
    2. They are building an extensive record collection at the Trail Center. They have a list of those buried at Winter Quarters, and are developing lists of those buried at other cemeteries in the area. There were some ninety communities established up and down both sides of the Missouri River in this area that was used as a staging ground for the westward journey. Not everyone who died was buried in the Winter Quarters cemetery. If you email me off-list, I can put you in touch with the lady who is working with the records at the Trail Center to develop the collection (I'm not sure she'd want her email out to absolutely everybody that gets this list without asking her.) They're also working to collect family information about those who came through the area on their way west, and moved on. Karen In a message dated 2/3/2009 10:01:01 P.M. In particular, specifically I'm hoping to find more information on the following events and people: James Graham married Sarah Thompson (Lindsay) in 1848 They had a daughter Augusta Alice Graham sometime around 1859/1850, before going west to Utah. Also, I'm interested if there happned to be a man named John Lindsay buried in the Mormon Pioneer Cemtery. Anyhthing would be an immense help, especially if I couls get in contact with anyone familiar with the Mormon church records from this time and place. I have a fairly good timeline of the lives of the individuals in question, and would be more than happy to give any further information I have that might help. Thanks in advance, I hope I might be able to find someone that can help as I am relatively unacquainted with LDS records and genealogical research (what's available, what's not, who to get in touch with, etc.) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Julia E. Vandercook is listed in the 1910 Census for Cass County, Nebraska, (Plattsmouth) in the Nebraska Masonic Home. Age is 70 and she is listed as having no children. She and James are listed in 1900 as having no children, also. Julia E. Vandercook is listed in the 1920 Census for Hillsborough County, Florida (Stemper 9-Pct) as 83 and widowed, born Ohio. Harriet, born circa 1865 in Nebraska, appears to have been their only child. > > I have solid information on James F. VanDerCook. He died 20 January, 1904 in Florence and lies buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha. However, I have been unable to trace either Julia or Harriet. Did Julia take a third husband? Did Harriet ever marry? I have been a VanDerCook family researcher for well over 20 years and am trying to clear up a few details in this line. Based on what I have found so far, it seems likely that Julia was one of the first women physicians practicing in Nebraska. > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
