St. James Orphanage was operated by the Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha. The complex was located on North 60th Street, near a part of Omaha called Benson. While the campus is still there, it has been redeveloped for other uses by the archdiocese. I'm not sure what agency oversees the successor agencies to St. James; here's the archdiocesean website. That would be a place to start: http://www.archomaha.com/ Best of luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "gail harms" <gailharms@charter.net> To: <NEDOUGLA@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 15, 2006 9:57 AM Subject: [NEDOUGLA] need help > Hello, > My name is Gail and I am new to this list. Have fun. We changed to first Saturday and third Saturday because of the two genealogy conferences. We were at the cemetery last weekend, because it was the first Saturday. I hope you have fun. We'll miss you. Karen
Karen. I was sorry you changed the dates. I had planned on coming last Saturday as I knew I would have company this coming Sat. I will be leaving town next week and will even have to miss the Oct. GOGS meeting. I will not be back until the first part of Nov. So DURN! Thought I would be able to get to P.H C. to read before I left. I am sure not having much luck. If weather is good when I get back, I will check and see if you are still going. Wish I could have been some help. God bless. Lois Shaul

My wife is great granddaughter of Adolph and Salome. I have quite a bit of information on that family. Her grandfather was Fredrick. Her father was Fredrick's son Max Leon. She was born in Kansas and grew up in Tekamah, but we have no real connections there anymore. Her grandmother was Kate Schmidt from the Blair area. I have quite a few photographs that I'd be happy to send you if I know what you want. I very much look forward to hearing from you.

There's a Peter Joseph Gaughn in the 1920 census - and they're on Q St. Could be that family is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery. This month, because of genealogy conferences on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays, we are moving our service project to the 1st & 3rd Saturday this month. We will be there at 9:30 reading the old stones, trying to salvage information before vandals & weather destroy it all. We meet at 9:30 in the morning and work until about noon, transcribing all information on the stones (including the art work) so that the information will be preserved. Come sample a taste of early Omaha history and help preserve some of her history while you're at it. Karen
I don't know Myrtle Slocum, but I did know a Paula Slocum that went to North High School in 1964-67-69 Somewhere in there. They lived in the Northern part of Omaha at that time. She could be Myrtle's daughter. ----- Original Message ----- From: <kccarver@midrivers.com> To: <NEDOUGLA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 12:25 AM Subject: [NEDOUGLA] free genealogy lookup please > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Slocum or Christensen > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/yNB.2ACE/2790 > > Message Board Post: > > I am in search of a Myrtle Christensen (Slocum) in the 1940's I would like > any information I can get on her... she had a Child Richard Christensen > out of Wed lock, but later married a Sj or JS Slocum and they were > married in Nebraska on March 19, 1947. and transfered to Denver Colorado.. > I would like to have a free lookup on the Christensen and the Slocum so I > can trace what happened to this relative. > thank you so much. please put Myrtle Slocum in your subject box so I know > it is safe to open > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NEDOUGLA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
