    1. [NEDODGE] SPARKS - GOLDER Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of photographs belonging to the SPARKS Family of Illinois. The first is identified as Tada HILL SPARKS and was taken at the Geo H. Newton Studio in Fairfield, IL likely in the 1880's with Tada appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time. In addition to her name, someone has also written "Mother of Ralph H. SPARKS" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is identified only as Marguerite G. SPARKS though it is a photograph of a family which was taken at the Columbian Art Studio in Fairfield, IL including parents appearing to be in their 30's or 40's and two children an infant and a toddler of about 2 years. This photograph was likely taken in the 1880's or 1890's. The third and fourth photographs are of Marguerite G. SPARKS, taken at the Emma Swan Studio in Fairfield, IL sometime in the 1890's when Marguerite was just an infant. Marguerite does appear to be the same infant in the earlier family photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Marguerite Agatha GOLDER was b. 30 Sept 1895 in Scribner, NE to parents James GOLDER (b. 20 Nov 1854 in Stonehouse, Scotland- d. 1914) and Mary Theodora ROGERS (b. 27 Jul 1866 in Sterling, IL -d. 1948). Marguerite married Ralph Hill SPARKS on 6 Jun 1917 and they had a daughter, Margaret Ruth SPARKS b. 1926 along with two other children. Marguerite A. GOLDER SPARKS died 28 Aug 1985 in Winner, SD and is buried in the Winner City Cemetery there. Ralph Hill SPARKS was b. 19 Aug 1893 in Jeffersonville, IL to parents William E. SPARKS and Sarah E. HILL. Ralph died 4 Oct 1949 in Winner, SD and is buried in the Winner City Cemetery there. Census records provide the following information: 1900 census of Arrington Township, IL: William E.
