Hello list, I just joined up a few minutes ago! My children have requested that I help them with their father's genealogy. They are directly descended from: Uriah Thompson, died in Cherry County, Nebraska, married to Elizabeth Harrison (a cousin of the late President Benjamin Harrison and a descendant of his illustrious grandfather) - they had seven children of which the following was next to the oldest: | Christopher Clarence Thompson, born August 12, 1849 Grant County, Wisconsin, married April 6, 1877 in Saunders County, Nebraska to Eliza Hannaman (her parents: Thomas Hannaman and Sarah Brazel) In 1889 CC Thompson settled on a ranch near Hackberry Lake and began a cattle business. He raised thoroughbred race horses and in the fall of 1906 took first prize in every race in which he entered his famous horse Blue Hawk. Many years later he sold that farm and after traveling around a bit eventually bought over 600 acres fronting the Niobrara River, I believe it was section 31, township 33, range 28. Apparently it included a lake, which he stocked, and included the mouth of Gordon creek and two other streams, it had plenty of timber and had about 300 apple trees. If anyone knows of this family, please contact me. I'm afraid I don't know much about Pres. Ben. Harrison. Does anyone know who his "illustrious grandfather" was? Any comments very greatly appreciated.
