I think we've hit the jackpot. The Parents of John and Julia are Gardner Powers and Sarah Jane Conaway who were married in 1832 in Indiana. Sarah and Gardner divorced and he remarried in 1868. In 1870 in Cass Co. Ne. Sarah was murdered by a Gallant Rakes. We've tried figuring out a Sandford connection too and have so far been unable. Julia is listed as M. Julia on the Cass County Ne.1860 census. At the trial a witness by the name M.J.Powers testifies. I have not read the news article but will see it tomorrow. My daughter had a reply from someone earlier from California and now I think we are on the right track. My daughter thinks she has some info and photos of M.J. and bro Henry. We have a lot of info.
