This is a very sad misfortune and has cast a profound gloom over the entire community, as it was hoped that the triplet brothers might be saved and nursed through the period of their babyhood. The mother died last May, at the time the three boys were born, following a Caesarean operation at a hospital in Omaha. The babies have been kept at the St. Catherine’s hospital in that city since their birth up to a few weeks ago, when they were taken to the home of the father near Murray, and have since gradually grown worse, until death visited the home and took one of the babies to join its mother who had gone before. Another of the little ones is quite low at the present time. The funeral was held at the home, near Murray. CARD OF THANKS. To the relatives and friends who have been so kind and sympathetic during the sickness and at the time of the death of my infant son, Herman, I desire to express my most heartfelt appreciation and assure them that their goodness will long be remembered. HERMAN RICHTER Plattsmouth Journal, October 5, 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Ernest RICHTER and daughters, Mrs. Frank MRASEK and Miss Nettie RICHTER and two little grandsons, Joseph and Charley, twin sons of the triplets born to Mr. and Mrs. Herman RICHTER about four months ago, were in the city Wednesday afternoon and paid the Journal office a brief call. The two remaining little boys are at this time doing nicely and seem to be gaining strength and growing. Joseph now weighs nine pounds and Charley eleven.

AND MRS. ROBERT RICHTER HAS A BROKEN ARM This morning, Nellie, the 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert RICHTER, was brought in from the farm of Welsey Hill, near Rock Bluffs, where she has been visiting, suffering from a broken arm. The little girl was engaged with a number of playmates in searching for bird nests and in doing so had climbed into a tree to reach one of the nests and getting out on a decayed limb it broke with her and caused her to fall to the ground several feet below and fractured the right forearm. The little girl was brought in to her home and taken to the office of Dr. E.W. COOK where the injured arm was dressed and the patient made as comfortable as possible under the circumstances.

Dear Listers, You are probably aware that I have some old clippings from the Plattsmouth Journal, 1916-1919. If any of you have not yet seen any sign of your family from my transcriptions, this is an invitation from me to post your family names so I can see if I have something for you. I am currently reviewing a reel of 1916 microfilm on loan from Nebraska (starts about end of April), so if you know of a specific event during that year up to April 1917, I can try to find the article. It would be helpful for me if you include the town in which your family resided. The Plattsmouth Journal covered certain localities in alternating issues and it would make it easier for me to have this information. I will probably have this reel for another 10 days.Becky --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo.

The condition of Albert Rouse, the young man who was injured so severely at Gretna, a few days ago in the explosion of a boiler, is reported as being just as well as could possibly be expected under the circumstances. Mr. Rouse is suffering greatly from his injuries which are of a most severe nature and his recovery is very doubtful as yet. His two sisters, Mrs. Warren TULENE and Mrs. Alvin JONES of this city were at his bedside yesterday and found him resting as easily as possible under the trying circumstances. The splendid physical condition of Mr. Rouse has been the only thing that has sustained him during his suffering and had he not been of such a heavy build he certainly would have been killed by the explosion, which as it was almost tore his right arm from its socket. His friends here will anxiously await word from his bedside. Plattsmouth Journal, Thursday, August 10, 1916 ALFRED ROUSE DIES AT THE HOSPITAL >From Wednesday’s Daily. Yesterday afternoon at 5:30 at the St. Joseph hospital in Omaha, Alfred Rouse died after several days of the most painful suffering due to the severe injuries received in the explosion of a boiler at a far near Gretna on July 31st. The accident resulted in the death instantly of one of the helpers on the threshing outfit and the inflicting of the injuries to Mr. Rouse that have since proved fatal. The unfortunate man was cut and bruised in a terrible manner and it was not expected from the first that he could recover, but his splendid vitality sustained him for the past ten days. The body will be brought to this city on No. 2 this afternoon and the casket taken to the home of Mrs. Warren TULENE where the funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock and the interment had in the Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. Rouse was thirty-six years of age at the time of his death and unmarried. He was a brother of Mrs. Warren Tulene and Mrs. Alvin Jones of this city.

Mrs. Davis, the mother of Mrs. B. SPURLOCK, and formerly, with her family, one of the earliest settlers of Cass county, after a few hours’ illness died on the camp ground at Mt. Pleasant last Saturday morning. The funeral services took place on the grounds at 2 o’clock Sabbath afternoon, from whence the corpse was brought to Plattsmouth and started on the Monday morning train for Marysville, Missouri, her home at the time of death, she being here on a visit to her daughters, Mrs. SPURLOCK and Mrs. WISEWELL. The absent children were telegraphed the intelligence, and her son George arrived a few hours after the funeral ceremonies, and returned with the remains to Missouri. B. WINDHAM, a brother of the deceased, and father of our fellow-townsman, R.R. WINDHAM, arrived on Sabbath morning to pay his last sad respects to an only sister. This is the third member of a family of eight that has died within two years; the others being the father and B.K. DAVIS, who was a prominent attorney of Missouri.
