Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AQB.2ACI/124.1 Message Board Post: The marriage record index in Cass County, Nebraska is on individual 3x5 cards filed by last name, so if you don't know the surname of an individual, you won't find the marriage. I would write the Historical Society in Cass Co., Nebraska (USA). They are very helpful folks and will do lots of looking for a very nominal fee. Good Luck.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AQB.2ACI/124 Message Board Post: Sarah A. Norman married Ephraim Foster 1859, divorsed him 1867, married Daniel Kimball 1867 divorced him in 1892. All of this was in Indiana. Now according to Daniel's Civil War Records, Sarah remarried (though he didn't know the new husband's name) and she died about 1897 in Nebraska. Her grandson said the Kimball's were in Falls City, Weeping Water, and Auburn NE. I am trying to find what Sarah's last husband's name is and where and when she died. To this end, is there a marriage index covering this time, that can be checked. Thanks

    1. [NE-CASS] obit for Nancy Ann "Anna" HILL 1905
    2. Norma Paul
    3. Obit. Elmwood Leader, Elmwood, Cass County, Nebraska, Friday, June 9, 1905 Death of Anna Hill The funeral services of Miss Anna Hill was held at the Christian Church on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. H. ?. The seating capacity of the church was taxed to the utmost and many had to stand. The building had been suitable decorated with flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Hill and family have the symathy of all in their bereavement. Annie Hill was born June 8, 1886 and died on Sunday morning last at 9:30 o'clock at the young age of 18 years, 11 months and 26 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hill, who reside on a farm near Elmwood. She was one of six children,-four boys and two girls-all the rest survive her and mourn her loss. Her recent illness, which culminated in her death, was of short duration. However, for more than a year it was known that she was yielding to the ravages of that dreadful disease-consumption. It was this which finally took her life. But for all this it is a source of comfort to know that the end was peaceful and her soul took its flight to God as if in sweet repose. This beautiful young life will be missed, her presence will be no more here, but her influence will live on and on. The kind deeds of her life will live and her memory will be cherished by every member of the family and by all who knew her. "Her sun is gone down while it is yet day."

    2. Joann H. Nichols
    3. Is there someone on the list that would be willing to check the land records for me in Cass County? I am seeking information on a John Ledin/Liden/Ladin who was listed in the 1920 and 1930 censuses as owning property. The 1930 census shows it as being on Randolph Street. I don't find the street name on the 1920 census. In 1920 he is called John Liden and in 1930 he is called John Ladin. I know he was living in 1935 when an older brother, Olof Ledin, died in Proctor, Vermont as he is mentioned in his brother's obituary. I am willing to pay to find this information. I am unable to go from Vermont out to Nebraska easily! Thanks a lot for your interest. Joann Nichols jnichols@sover.net

    3. So how much will you pay... just kidding. None of us in the USgenWeb project charge for the info. I think I probably have it, but it'll take a bit to look up as the whole 1918 Cass Co. atlas is on disk but I don't know which page Randolph St. is on. "Joann H.
