For about two months, I have become what is referred to as "County Coordinator", or "CC" for short, after Sue Baker moved on to other things. I do not have Butler Co. roots, rather I was born in Nemaha Co. and now live in Michigan--a retired professor from Central Michigan University. I maintain the Nemaha Co. Pioneers page for Marlene Stillahn who is CC for Nemaha Co. at the present. If your folk came into NE thru Brownville, you might want to look at it http://www.rootsweb.com/~nenemaha/emmett.htm I would be interested in hearing from any of you who have transcribed or contributed web page material for the Butler Co. site. My interest in this is just to know who has done what so I can put the copyright in your name rather than keep changing the CC name on that line of code. Exciting things are happening to Rootsweb (RW) and GenConnect (GC) so check that new stuff out. For example, you can now post obituaries and deeds, etc for your folks. I notice the counter keeps bumping along for hits on Butler but not many new postings. Maybe that is just a result of the "RW Improvers" checking their results. I saw Gail Kilgore's plea to be replaced as the keeper of this list--no I am not volunteering--as I believe someone very close to or in the county should do that. I am not sure who within the county should be contacted. Any ideas or nominations? Anyone in the regional genealogical society or local historical society?? A last point, at present we have four cemetery lists online. Is there anyone here close to Butler Co. cemetery associations who could tell me what lists might be available?
