Murphy came to U.S. in 1851 to Allamakee Co. IA. After the civil war, he lived in Tecumseh, Johnson Co. Ne for a short time before starting his medical training at St. Joseph MO. His first wife was Sarah O'marah who died at David City in 1878. He then married Johanna Eiting. He died in Sawtelle, Ca in Apr. 1907 at a Soldier's home there. His father Patrick J. Murphy, moved from Iowa to Pawnee Co. Neb. and worked as a tailor. He died March 1, 1872 in Pawnee City. We could not find anything on his brother, John or possible brothers, Michael and Thomas.
