There did seem to be a problem with some of the censuses with people being 'out of place'. I don't know about the 1860 one, but the 1870 Dawson county one has a lot of Cheyenne county names included. It's noted in the margins that those people were actually Cheyenne co. people, but no explanation why they were included in the Dawson Co. pages. We can't figure out just why they were counted there unless they were traveling and were staying over in Plum Creek at the time, or working on the railroad, etc. Weren't people supposed to be counted where the census taker found them at that time? My earlier message about the section from Andreas was mainly to point out that in that particular history of Butler county, it says that there were only 29 people in the county in 1861, so perhaps that one page with 27 names is all there was for the 1860 census of the county.
