I have been told the familoy emigrated to this country from the province of Bohemia in Austria-Hungary in 1871 when Louisa was 1 year old. If you are apply to give me the information I seek I would appreiate it. If you could direct me to a Catholic organization that has access to the records I seek please give me their name and address so I might contact them. Thank you for your help. 1. [NEBUTLER] Nathan Dvorak
    2. Hello again, A Ken Chromy was kind enough to look at his CD's of the 1920 Census of Butler Co, NE to located my Grandparents in Brainard. Does anyone have access to earlier census records that would be willing to look up Nathan Dvorak and his wife Louisa? 1) Their first child was born in 1893 in Rising City, Butler Co. NE. My grandfather, Louis B. Dvorak was born June 30, 1894 in Rising City. Would someone look at the 1900 census for this family. It should give me Nathan's approximate age and his parents and his birth location. Louis said his father was born in Austria and the native language was Bohemian. 2) Would someone looke at earlier census to show when Nathan settled in Rising City? I am assuming he was there in 1890. I don't know if he was with parents or single or married? Thank you for your kind assistance, Charlene Swan Kes6135@aol.com Cypress, CA

    1. [NEBUTLER] Circle Mound Cem. photos
    2. The web pages and related tombstone photos from the Circle Mound Cemetery, done by Ted & Carole Miller, have been put on the /~nebutler/ site with their gracious approval. At the moment all of these pages and images are on both Butler Co. and NEPhoto. Because the pages were copied, there are some links on the Butler Co. version back to the NEPhoto site which do not work but the added link back to the Butler Cemetery list page does work. These will gradually get fixed. If any of you have other tombstone photos from Circle Mound Cem or tombstone transcriptions for any burials in this cemeter, I would be happy to add them the pages. Or if anyone has the cemetery association contact for this cemetery, please let me know. The direct link to the cemetery menu page is http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebutler/cemlist.html Emmett Mason (Masontree@aol.com) http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebutler

The Peoples Banner (David City) Butler County on June 9, 1904 said that he dieed at his home near Gresham on June 4, 1904 and was being buried at the Surprise Cemetery today. Maybe we missed a burial and would appreciate your info. I also have some info on Minerva Casteel the wife of Wm. Pitt Millard.

    1. [NEBUTLER] Cemetery update
    2. Internet statisticians tell us that a user can get from any web site to any other web site in 19 or fewer clicks (Believe it or not). This is by way of sharing the fact that some photos of tombstones for Circle Mound and Fairview Cemeteries have been put in the Photo Album pages of NEGenWeb. I have linked the cemlist.html page at /~nebutler to these URLs with no handy way to get back to Butler except your browser's "back" arrow. These photos were taken back in 1990 by Ted & Carol Miller. Progress continues on the Edholm Valley Cem. and David City Cem. pages, the remainder of the submissions by Gail Holdeman should be completed over the next couple of weeks. It is probable that Edholm Valley Cem. suffered some vandalism in the last year. A local person will be checking on that damage. Emmett Mason http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebutler

When I visited last week, I noticed one tombstone has been toppled, several look as though an attempt had been made to shove them over. The top of the Warren marker have been shoved/moved somewhat. I visited the cemetery last fall and this was not the case. Anyone know who should be notified?

    1. [NEBUTLER] cemetery pages & Octavia questions
    2. The tentative pages for Edholm Valley Cemetery and David City Cemetery are online and their links are active from the Cemetery link. These have been built around tombstone photos which Gail Holdeman has sent and she will send some more. In my last message on this subject, I inadvertently attributed these tombstones to Gail Kilgore--apologies to both Gail Holdeman and Gail Kilgore. I am pulling my forelock and scuffing my left toe in the dust. Three questions: 1. Can anyone give the name/denomination of the white clapboard church in Octavia, NE? 2. Does anyone know the District No./Name for an Octavia school in 1908? We have a photo labelled "No.418 Octavia School Building, and gathering May 22, 1908" which show a large group of people and two males (aspiring chimney sweeps) atop the school. 3. Do cemetery books exist for either Edholm Valley Cem or David City Cem? Thanks, Emmett Mason

    1. [NEBUTLER] Edholm Valley Cemetery
    2. Progress has started on a web page for Edholm Valley Cemetery. Gail Kilgore has some tombstone photos and names from that cemetery to start the page (THANKS, Gail). I have created a web page which will display thumbnail versions of these photos and am planning the code to link to a full size photo of the same image. A direct link is at the end of this message but it will be a few days/weeks before the real stuff is there. Any other tombstone data (words) will be shown in an alphabetical listing like the other cemetery pages. So, if you know any history, any data from graves, or any ethnic or religious insights into this cemetery, please let me know. My map shows its location across the road (state route S-12a) northwest of Edholm (village) but does not give the exact cemetery name. My predecessors place the cemetery in Sections 35-36 of Bone Creek Township and named it Edholm Valley Cemetery. Do I have that all correct? Creek trivia: My map shows the cemetery between two small streams which flow northeastward into Bone Creek--do these streams have names? Yeah, I know, they may just be low places in some fellow's field with no real water. (grin) Thanks, Emmett Mason http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebutler/edholm.html

    1. [NEBUTLER] New Butler Co. queries will be sent to this list
    2. I activated the "gateway" feature of GenConnect so new Butler Co. NE queries will be sent to this list as they are posted. I did NOT activate this feature for the other GC forums: Bible Records, Biographies, Deeds, Obituaries, Pensions, and Wills. This will increase your email slightly but the number of new queries seldom exceeds 5 per week and is often Zero per week. Reactions are welcome.
