Seeking any information on USTOHAL, Joseph, born 13 Sept 1846/8 Domasov, Ivancice, Brno, South Moravia, (Roman Catholic), married Frantiska (Fannie) Ruzickova in 1870, immigrated to Linnwood, Butler Co., NE in 1880 (with spouse, mother-in-law, and several children), and died 2 Jun 1929 in David City, Butler Co., NE. He is the originator of this surname in USA. To the best of my knowledge, if this surname is in your family in the USA, then you are a relative of mine! Ne Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ne/Butler?read=334 Surname: Asquith, Beckner ------------------------- I am looking for any information on the family of Eli Cecil BECKNER who lived in Butler Co., as a school teacher. His wife, Savanna, died in Lincoln, in 1907, and buried in David City. The 1900 census has them in Butler Co. The remaining family show up in the 1910 census in Lincoln, Lancaster Co., and in the 1920 census, I found them in San Diego County Calif. The 1910 NE census has Eli (entered as Elias), Santrillia (his daughter), two grandchildren Carl and Alice ASQUITH, (in 1920 San Diego their name was spelled Blackmar), and a lodger Robert Worley. Eli's father, Jacob BECKNER, is in the 1910 Butler Co. census and he is buried in David City cemetery along with Savanna. Any information would be most helpful, especially on the Asquith surname.

    3. Hi, Emmett, Hi Dave, Thanks Dave for expressing my choices. How are things in MI? Emmett, I agree completely with Dave. One more thing. You know those teeny, tiny, click on fonts? They provde a lot of available material right up front, but these old eyes could use them one font size larger. I think you are providing an excellent site. Regards, Dawn/So. 2. The Butler Co. NEGenWeb site has 70 individual web pages and may be overly complex. If you think about these things, maybe you could advise me on some example problems. Other comments are welcome also. 1. When you visit a county genealogy web site, would you prefer (A) "TOWNS" or "COMMUNITIES" and then a reference related to the town. (B) "REFERENCE" (like the 1890 Gazetteer) and then the town. 2. On a cemetery page, with tombstone photos, would you prefer (A) name list first. (B) photos first. 3. When you visit a county genealogy web site, what are the first three (3) things you look for or use? 1. ________________ 2. ________________ 3. ________________ Other __________________ Thanks, Emmett Mason (Masontree@aol.com) http://www.rootsweb.com/~nebutler

    2. Hello again, Does anyone have a centennial book for Rising City, Butler Co. Nebraska? I have one for Braninard, NE from 1878 to 1978. Nathan or Nick Dvorak was mentioned as the father of Louis B. Dvorak a rural mail carrier and later a railway mail carrier. Nathan Dvorak and Louisa Semin were the parents of 8 children between March 1893 and August 1909. Louisa's brother Fred Semin is prominiently written up also with his son, Fred Semin in the Brainard centennial book. I was in hopes something would have been written about the residency of Nathan and Louisa Dvorak and their children in Rising City, NE. Also was there any mention of Louisa's father, Jozef Semin. Hope to hear from you soon. And I hope the centennial book exists. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Charlene Swan Kes6135@aol.com

    2. Greeting List, I just had a thought the marriages of both Nathan Dvorak to Louisa Semin about 1892 and the marriage of his son, Louis B. Dvorak, to my grandmother, Anna Emma Hofbauer, might have been printed in a Czech/American newspaper. Louis Dvorak married Anna Hofbauer February 21, 1916 in Brainard, Butler Co, NE. Does anyone have access to Czech newspapers in these time frames that could check them out for me. I know a great deal about my grandmother's family but very little about my grandfather's family.
