I think the Mormon Trail started at the Missouri River, and ran on the north side of the Platte River, and the Oregon Trail started at Independence, Missouri, and ran on the south side of the Platte River. Where not looking so much on the road or trail or train route that they traveled on, but the locations where they lived as they came from Europe, Asia, etc., to the United States, and then where they settled in Nebraska.
