    1. [NEBRRoots-L] Re: Blair, Nebraska
    2. Hi Karen, Glad to know that Hans was your grandfather. As I explained I was not in Blair schools long enough at one time to have many friends. George Campbell was one of my friends. I remember that Hans did play football, but I was a skinny kid that wasn't big enough for football and too short for basketball. Wish I was as skinny now as then. The reason I suggested that you contact the Washington County Genealogical Society, that meets in the Library, was that some of them are probably of an age to remember some of Blair's older people. My brother-in-law, Roger Stricklett, was quite a bit younger than my wife or me. He was a salesman for Vinton Chevrolet so he knew a great many people in the Blair area. I will give you his phone number and suggest that you call him before going there to find out what he can tell you. His phone number is: 402 426-3494. Sadly, most of my friends in Blair are gone now and I am left without them to call on. Do you live in the Omaha area? I am a diehard Nebraska fan, as I guess you can tell from my e-mail name. I was sorry they did not do too well this year. There is one other thing you might want to pursue and that would be to look at the films of the old Blair papers at the Library. There might be some articles that would be of interest to you. Look for the column on Blair's past History that used to appear on a regular basis. I have found some things about my family that way. In one of the columns dated 25 years ago (Feb. 9, 1921) it mentions that my mother had returned to her switchboard duties for the Nebraska Telephone Co. here after being quarantined for smallpox. As I said, if I do find anything about Hans I will send it to you. Many people have helped me in my research, so I am always glad to help when I can. Can you receive attachments on your e-mail? If so, and I run into anything, I will scan it in and send it by e-mail. Best wishes in your hunt. Tom Powell
