I find this site entertaining and helpful pertaining to genealogy research. I'm new at all of this (genealogy and computers). I just joined the ARMSTRONG and BAILEY rootsweb sites yesterday. I've seen more "junk" in my mail box in 24 hours than I every could have expected. Comparison shopping definitely gives one perspective. I haven't contributed much yet, but certainly am encouraged by the quality of focus on research methods that I observe within this group. There is much to be learned here....mostly, that genealogy research is a vehicle for expanding my knowledge in paths that I never expected. I have a professional genealogist friend, who has a website and "all that stuff." One of her lectures at the NE State Genealogical Society a few years ago was entitled Migration Patterns. Knowing these patterns is one of the essentials of the task we are engaged in. For sundry reasons, our ancestors often migrated with relatives, friends, religious groups, etc. These movements are sometimes the only clue for finding an elusive line. I appreciate the work you all do in making this site pertinent. Jane Tierney
