The W. Dale Clark Library here in Omaha has gotten another 350 reels of film in during the past three weeks, mostly 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, & 1860. Close to another 600 are expected within the next two to three weeks, 1840, 1920 Iowa, and some miscellaneous reels from the last 5 years that aren't filled in yet. The newer ones won't be on the film list in the book room because Lynn had just put out a new listing, and she's waiting for the new year and as many as possible of the 1840 reels (about 400 in one order) to come in. The above years ARE completely ordered now, and we're just waiting for them to trickle in. (So if you come down to the library and don't see the county & year you want on the list, check the film room anyway. It MIGHT be there.) 1920 Iowa has been completely ordered now, so that Iowa will be complete for all federal censuses. (Sorry, we haven't gotten soundex yet...and probably won't at least for 1880 with LDS coming out with their 1880 CDRoms soon.) We've also got some of the Iowa State censuses in now as a supplement. Also ordered: 1880 Mississippi, Lancaster co PA through 1920, Berks co PA through 1920, Knox, Union, & Grainger co's of TN through 1920. If you're coming down to Omaha, you can always e-mail Tom Heenan and ask him to mail you the current film list a week or so before you come to help you plan some of the films you want to look at. His e-mail address is: Heenan@omaha.lib.ne.us I promise you though, we are doing our level best to keep the list outdated until we get all of the reels in. Progress WILL slow down after the first of the year sometime, because our supplier is now advertising that he is going to be raising the price from $7.95/reel to $13.95/reel. If you live in the Omaha area and are likely to be using the collection, you might want to consider donating the county years you need while the price is low. It's always a tax deduction. Karen
