Hi Tanis, I hope you can find the record of the birth, but just wanted to tell you that births in the earlier years are not always recorded. My wife was born in 1916 in Blair, NE and when she wanted her birth certificate for a government job in Washington, DC she sent to Lincoln and they had no record of it. She had to get her mother to certify that she had given birth to her and then to get school records to back that up. I was born in 1916 in Valentine, NE and when I wrote to Lincoln to get a copy, they didn't have one either. It turned out that the old doctor who was there didn't file one so he filed a delayed certificate. You may have to do the same for the certificate that you want. School records and church records sometimes have the necessary records to prove what you want to know. Suggest you use the Roots Web and see if they have anything on Grand Island.
