It was damaged in the fire. Congress destroyed it without transcribing it 13 years later. After the fire, Congress wanted to destroy it right away but scholars and researchers convinced them not to destroy it. It was destroyed in the 30s without much concern though. *Sigh* I read this on the National Archives site. It really was a sad story to read. There is so much we could have learned from it.
