Greetings! Am looking for assistance in locating information on a Nicholson who homesteaded in Beaver City, NE and died in 1827- "buried in his own yard" said to have 8 graves there. The information shared with me, by a family researcher, refers to this individual as Uncle Bill and also as T.J. Nicholson......same fella? Uncle Bill had brothers- Zacharias and Harvey of Iowa So, I'm fishing a bit in this branch as I/we try to reconnect it. There is a William Nicholson listed on the Rootsweb- Nebraska Civil war Veterans site. Location confirms the Beaver City location and indicates that the information came from the 1893 Vet Census. William enlisted in Iowa, no rank given. Following that up on another Rootsweb site for Iowa, I found a James B Nicholson in the roster of the 24th Iowa Inf. Puzzle pieces not quite matching... Are William and Uncle Bill one and the same? I am supposing so, until otherwise enlightened. Is T.J. the James of the 24th Iowa? Is there anyone researching the Nicholson family in NE that could help me out from afar? Will share info and connections to other Nick... family researchers... Thanks in advance! Carol Nickelson-McQueen Iowa -In addition to the aforementioned line.. Searching Nebraska for Nicholson/Nickelson family lines (Spelling changed at some point...) Nemaha Co and Johnson Co, NE for desc of James W. NICHOLSON/NICKELSON of Elk Creek, Table Rock area.
