Hi All: Just to clarify a little on my DARLING line versus Nebraska. Enos Orrin Darling a Dr. was married to Marion Palmer both born and raised in Burillville, RI. After the Civil War they went to Iowa where my Grandfather Leslie L. Darling was born in 1877. He was the youngest of six. Orrin Alphanso, Enos Agustus, Fanny Estelle, Ida Esther, Evelyn Irene. >From there the family moved to Grand Isalnd, Nebraska. Dr. Darling practiced there for a number of years and then ( family story ) became very mad at his wife and took his youngest son and went to California. They did arrive around 1889. All of the Darling's stayed in Grand Island except Leslie Leonard and Enos Orrin. Leslie L. started the Darling line here in Kern Co., CA. I know that Orrin Alphanso was very well known in Grand Island and very wealthy. He also took Pres. Teddy Roosevelt hunting and received and engraved set of spurs for this trip from the Pres. More than this of the Nebraska family I do not know much other than some of the related lines. The divorse was so nasty that most of the older generations wouldn't talk about it at all. Hope this helps someone. Will be happy to share.
